Where’s The Color?!

By Mandi 05/08/2017

No this isn’t the internet circa 1930.

Your computer screen is just fine.

Vintage Revivals isn’t broken.

So where’s the color?!!? Would you believe that I gave it away? It’s for a good cause (one that you can also help with!!)

Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week is just around the corner and to kick things off we’re asking everyone to donate their digital color!! Here’s the deal. For all the digital color that’s “donated” they’ll give real paint to communities in need for projects to complete during National Painting Week and throughout the year!

As most of you long time readers know, National Painting Week is one of my absolute favorite times of the year. Its all about refreshing your space and we’ve had some pretty epic projects come as a result (like Dylan’s Dream Room, and Macie’s Bedroom Makeover) and I think its pretty safe to say that this year’s project is going to inspire you and make you feel allllll the feels. Mark your calendars cause its happening May 19-29, but you don’t have to wait until then to get involved, you can donate your digital color right now!!

Here’s how it works, head over to donateyourcolor.com and see all of the digital donation options. Changing a photo to black and white will give a community in need 500 sq/ft of paint, browse the web in black and white with a Chrome extension and they’ll give 1000 sq/ft, or donate your entire website (like I did!) and they’ll give 5000 sq/ft!! What an easy way to help make this world better and more beautiful, right?!

Here’s what you need to do, click this link and get the get the color donation train rolling. You have until May 18th to donate!! In 2016, more than 3,700 Sherwin-Williams volunteers completed more than 275 community projects across the U.S. and Canada. Through partnerships with Boys & Girls Club, Rebuilding Together, and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Just think how many more communities we can help this year!!

So whether its a simple photo, or donating the color from your entire site, you are helping! THANK YOU!!

  1. Your photographs ARE in color. I’m not really sure what the point of this post was. Is there something I’m missing?

    1. Hey Heather!
You must have missed it when the code was installed! We had it up for 2 days when the post published, it was really cool!

  2. No offence, maybe it’s an age thing or just a dumb blonde moment but I don’t understand the ‘donate your colour’ concept – at all !! I mean what the … ?? You what ? turn your web images into back & whites for a couple a days in order to … what ? Donate some paint? Shit maybe it’s a cultural thing cos in my country this would be unheard of ???

    1. Debbie, I’m trying to figure out where you are coming from. Like you said, it may be a cultural thing. Do you not like that Sherwin Williams is donating paint to community projects? Is it that you don’t think that paint is important in construction projects? Do poor areas where you are not use paint? I’m just curious because construction is different wherever you live. Even in the United States, the way buildings are constructed in the south is different than in the north. I just know that where I live (in Florida), paint is very, very important in construction. The building materials that are used need to be painted to seal and protect them from the elements. We get a lot of rain here and sometime hurricanes as well as all the sun. It is also humid here all the time so if a building isn’t properly painted, you can have moisture seepage in your walls, develop mold and basically make the structure uninhabitable. Hope this helps you understand why Sherwin Williams is donating paint and why people are helping out with the cause.
