Try calling a company that repairs auto glass. They inject something into windshield glass that repairs cracks and spots where rocks have hit. They can probably do the same for your window glass. It is clear, and you often can't even see where it was repaired.

Hi! My husband and i have done two houses where we restored the historic windows and i highly recommend it! For now I would just live with the crack. But if it becomes worse you can find some old wavy glass and cut it to size. I would remove the wood pieces. There is probably glazing putty you need to remove... heat gun will work but be careful to cover the other glass with foil so it doesn’t break. The other option is a speed heater that uses infrared light to melt paint/glazing and keeps the temp down so as to not aerosolize the lead. Remove glazing and clean opening, put glazing putty back on and seat your glass. Then install glazier points and either glaze a clean line or install wood to cover. Not sure what your window has. Cutting glass is nervewracking but kind of fun. You can’t beat these old windows for looks, new never is the same. And the materials they used are irreplaceable... usually old growth oak. If you can find a window restoration person locally that would be an opti N. This is not something most contractors know much about and in my area there is no one so i forced myself to learn. It is right up your alley. Also... i broke way way way too many large pieces of wavy glass trying to remove it from my windows to repair them. Your windows actually look to be in fine condition. If there is significant wood rot you can get a two part product to build it up recommended by resotration people. I’m blanking on the name right now.

LOL! My husband has the same problem, but we usually tell him to stop "Tim Tayloring" it or "Stop being the Tool Man" (a reference to the Home Improvement tv series for you youngsters!). I always know when he over does something, because it usually has an "oops" connected to the conversation, which usually results in another trip to the store. :)
