In reply to Melanie. Alas, I don't think Mandy does actual DIY posts. Just posts that show off DIH jobs (did it herself, yo). She's come a looong way from actually reviving vintage stuff and seems like her main job now is just sharing photos of what she's doing and guiding folks towards products she loves. I'm bummed too that this is more of an inspo blog now, but there are 100 zillion real DIY blogs out there that show you how to actually do things, rather than just showcasing a DIH job. I say, come here for the pretty and the cute writing style, but look elsewhere for the knowledge.

I'm wondering the same thing, if this would work in a kitchen. Maybe I would have to use a sealer in there. But I love the look and the patterns and would also love a tutorial and more pictures! You are so creative!

I have questions. I’m remodeling a house right now, and flooring is far off in the distance, but I’ll ask question anyway. How did you install this on a slab? I would LOVE a tutorial with specifics on installation–subfloor/waterproofing/underlayment/nails/glue/all of it. Do you think this would work in a kitchen and on entryways, or is that a hard no? How much would you estimate it cost per square feet?

When you first posted about your floors years ago I loved the finished result but did wonder how they would hold up. I am so glad you posted an update. I love your hexagon floors too but when we remodeled our kitchen I was ruled out and it still makes me sad even though my current flooring is nice. It just doesn’t give me the look I was going for, oh well. I love so many of the touches you’ve done in the house and on the outside. I have truly loved following your blog for many years.

Mandy! Thank you so much for posting about these floors. I think it’s such a benefit you waited to post about them because you are able to report on how they held up – so worthwhile!! I’d love to know more about how you attached the boards to the sub-floor? Also, did you acclimate the boards to your house prior to installing them – what was your timeline for this if so? Thanks so much from this diy loving newbie!
