In reply to Mrs Mike. Honestly I think hacking is a valid concern. (Also, putting all your specs online is probably a safety issue as well, as much as I appreciate your openness!) Smart devices are still not as regulated, and consumer not as protected, as they should be; the industry is still new. Probably having some kind of backup plan makes sense.

I love technology, but when it comes to my home, I’m mildly paranoid about putting it all on a hub. It just seems like it would be easy access once someone hacks in. I know, too many movies clearly! So while I do have some smart technology in my home (appliances and home entertainment), anything security related to doors, windows, and garage doors will stay old school! 🙂
