My best yard sale tip is this: when it's over (in AZ that means when it's TOO HOT), instead of having to pack the rest up and take it somewhere to donate, put a big sign up that everything that's left is FREE! People will come out of the woodwork and clean up all your mess. Just watch carefully so they don't take tables, etc. After that, anything that is left goes in the trash because if no one wanted it for free, the thrift store isn't going to want it either!

We have a neighborhood garage sale 2 times a year that is advertised on facebook and craigslist and like you mentioned, organization is key. My first couple of times I participated I didn't do very well, The last 2 times I put things out I had everything organized and displayed really nice, and priced to sell. This last time I sold most everything on the first day (it's a 2-day sale), so I pulled more items for the next day and sold everything the next day making a nice $500 for 4 hours of work (2 hours the first day and 2 hours the next). I was quite pleased and did very little negotiating with the customers. So I have learned to create displays and to organize what I'm selling and I get more get more traffic stopping by. My neighbors don't understand this and also don't have much success with their sales.

Your posts crack me up. I've been loving all the What's Happening In Waldo posts. I'm inspired to reno my house in the near future. Please start your own blog. Also, you should start an online shop. You could do it with Mandi. Both of y'all always manage to find the best pieces.
