With ya on the rainbow happiness. A few years ago I spent a whole day making a dahlia stencil with an exacto (too cheap to buy the $30)and painted one wall of my entryway lilac and stencilled 5 dahlias in violet. That’s the only violet. Touches of red in the B/W living room and an orange wall in the stairway. But I still love it! BTW – that old lamp with personality… I wouldn’t paint it. If you’re getting the happy vibe from it CUZ OF it’s history, don’t bury it under spray paint. We all know you COULD, the trick here is NOT TO.

I thought as I was reading you were going to say that the purple is on it’s way out…rug works great! Don’t you have to sweep your floors a thousand times a day in the kitchen? So depressing, your kids aren’t apparently as messy {embarrasing}.

Your strategy for home decor makes perfect sense, and it also works as a life philosophy. If we can just find the courage to do what makes the most sense in any given situation, even if it seems odd, someday, somehow, our experiences align and link up...suddenly, it all comes together. Thanks for making this important observation.
