We DVRed Bedknobs and Broomsticks a few months ago and my girls LOVE it. Which makes my garage sale bed even better!!

Can you believe that this bed was only $10.00?

I met some of my favorite readers for lunch like FOREVER ago. When we were leaving the mentioned a yard sale they saw just down the street, and you guys know me, I am ALWAYS up for a yard sale. And there is was. For only 10 bucks. I might have ran to it…in heels…on a gravel path…and almost fell…BUT I GOT THE BED YO!

Isnt it the perfect Bedknobs and Broomsticks Bed?! Off to the Island of Naboombu!

And if it looks like its been jumped on, its because it has.

Hey Friends!!

So the question of the day is Are YOU a Dirty Glazer? Or are you a Clean Glazer?

Of course by Glazer I am talking about the way that you glaze furniture.

I am hands down a dirty glazer. My glaze is usually really heavy and not perfectly even. Here is what I am talking about:

You might remember last Look What I Found Friday I showed you this oversized nightstand that I got for cheapola.

Its going in my bedroom and just because of the feel that the room is taking, a dirty glaze wouldn’t have fit in the way I wanted it to. So I decided to “Clean” glaze it.

After I painted it Krylon Gloss White I mixed a light gray glaze with Decoart’s Glazing Medium and their Slate Gray acrylic paint. Normally I don’t use the smaller sized mediums cause if you are dong a large piece it can get expensive but because I didn’t need much it worked out perfectly!!

Start by using a chip brush (you can get them anywhere for about $1.00) and paint on your glaze, making sure you work it really well in all the little cracks and corners.

Then take a damp rag and wipe it off. Not all of it mind you. Just so that it looks like this:

Then you are going to take a CLEAN DRY chip brush and in a circular motion work the brush into all of the places where the glaze is.

This is what it looks like after you have worked it all around.

Then you are going to wipe it with a clean damp cloth so that it looks well blended with no distinct lines.

You can clean it up as many times as you want until it is nice and light.

Here is a comparison between a Dirty glaze and a Clean one:

This freaking awesome $14.00 cupboard is getting some major plastic surgery next week with a new product from Krylon that I am itching to get my hands on.

Found this cuteness on CL for $10.00. I LOVE the exposed hinges and the latch

How about this pair of end tables for $10.00? I left the outside on when we made our trip to SLC and it rained and bubbled the top (I suck at life) so I am going to try and sand it smooth…maybe.

I also found these ornate frames o love on KSL 2 months ago and finally picked them up while I was visiting. I had 2 of the large ones ($20.00) and 3 small ($8.00) but gave my sis a big one and you can see what I did with the small one here.

I also found this cute frame at the DI (thrift store) for $3 or $4.

And I have saved the best for last.
Look at this awesome coat of arms-ish ginorm wall piece. I think that the lion may be anorexic but it was love at first sight.

Phew.

I love when people think WAAAAY outside the box. Kat @ Indignant Corgi was lusting a horse head lamp for a year before she decided to take matters into her own hands and make one out of an antique ashtray.

Seriously she painted and drew all the gorge flowers all over it. I love when people get creative like that, it takes guts and Kiki has a crapload of awesome guts that I love.

I am super excited to be considered for this room makeover. My master bedroom needs Mandi’s creative juices to come in and take it from drab to fab.

We moved into our home the week before Christmas, and have so far totally neglected decorating our room. I want to spend some time focusing on the one place in the house that should be a special retreat for my husband and I (who will be celebrating 13 years of marriage in June…pretty sure that would be an awesome anniversary gift for two crazy kids in love!).

It’s a great room with some amazing features (I mean, really, we have our OWN separate walk in closets…that’s what keeps a marriage alive baby!), but I like to compare our bedroom to a teenager whose gotten in with the wrong crowd. A juvenile delinquent you might say, that has lots of potential but just isn’t living up to it.

So please vote for my room. It’s in serious need of a makeover to take it out of it’s beige funk. Mandi, I am pleading with you to come to Seattle and give my room some love! We have coffee shops on every corner and enough rain to make you want to build an ark. Come see for yourself!

Let’s face it, I’m nowhere near as awesome as Mandi, nor will I ever be… but I like to think my living room has a chance to be! I see SO much potential when I see my living room but I can’t get past certain things {um, like the gold fireplace}:
1) Time restraints. {studying.all.the.time}
2) Budget restraints {student loans}
3) Design brick wall {so many designs floating around in my head I end up with this: a whole lotta NOTHING!}

But the good news?
1) It’s SUMMERTIME for me-I’ve got all the time in the world to get busy and fix this place with Mandi’s help!
2) Um, hello. All the amazing sponsors would cover the costs! And I’d take Mandi to every thrift shop in Atlanta!

Oh the many many reasons you should vote for Corner House…

Possibly the biggest reason you should vote for me is because I live in Farmington UT. So if you live in UT too we can all totally get together for a girls night or something. Why should I win you ask? Well, let me tell you…I’m a 32 year old working mother living in Herriman, Utah (and you can bet your bottom dolla we WILL be having a Girls Night Out where local Utahns can meet Miss Mandi herself). I have four rug-rats and I’m married to a fabulous 33 year old ‘boy’ who is an Over The Road Truck Driver (which means he is gone 4-6 days every week). As you can imagine, this leaves me little, actually NO time to take care of myself even in the smallest of ways. My families needs (ie, my kids, awe shucks…who am I kidding, my husbands needs too) have always come before mine and will for the foreseeable future (I’m sure all of you can relate). There is, of course, budget constraints as well…with the economy in the state it is in (remember the hubby drives semi trucks) and with a somewhat large family (did I mention the dogs? oh ya…two 50+ pound pitties) the only dough that will be put into the bedroom any time soon is the kind that keeps my MUFFIN TOP from going flat! Get to the point you say?!?

Oh alright {and here I thought you were enjoying my rambling}…I need help…motivation…some OOMPH…I need MANDI to turn this catch-all, oversized storage closet into the inviting, luxurious, serene Master Bedroom me and my Boo~Bear have always dreamed of…a room for me to escape the insanity surrounding me while the hubby is gone bye-bye but a lair of cuddle fun when he isn’t {teehee…excuse me while Iblush}.

SAAANCTUUUARYYYY…..SAAAANCTUUUARYYYY! OH wait … whats that???

I don’t have one of those, but surely would love to have one. My life with kid boogers, curdled milk sippies, poopy diapers, sandcastles in my living room, tears and more tears, laundry piles, dog hair, time outs, middle of the night screaming, toilet scrubbing, working stay at home mom….really could use  a special place. A place to cuddle with my kids, a place to lay in relaxation, a place to unwind from the horrors of the day, a place to share with my husband a place to…to just breath and think of the many thinks I have in my life that make me happy{especially those darn adorable boogery kids}.

I often lie awake in the early hours staring at the ugly walls (and the boob light) and think of many things that could do if I had the money, the time, and the help…then my cute girls wake up and we start a new day. You know sometimes when you see a list of bloggers that are freakin bloglebrities? And you think to yourself “Self, if I could be included in that group I will die happy?”

Wehehell. I got an email from Jamie at I heart Naptime. Who I love ps. Asking me to share with blogland an awesome Silhouette project. Of course I was on board. Then I saw the list and felt totally not awesome enough to be included, but totally GRATEFUL!!

We met during some late night tweeting. Are you sensing a pattern here? Then I told her that I would die without meeting her and so Lara and her fabulous coat came to our Bloggers GNO. I was lucky enough to sit across from her and pretty much fell in love with Miss Ellie G.

Lara doesn’t “craft” she creates. She loves typography and fonts and her silhouette. Here are some of my fave projects

So aside from being one of the funniest people ever Lara is so sweet! She came to St. George a couple of weeks ago and we got to hang out a couple of times. Her husband is just as wonderful. My 7 yr old still talks about how he let her play with his iphone (cause it is way cooler than mine). Lara is one of those people that you would spend every waking hour with if you could cause you can never get enough! Plus she blogs under an alias. How cool is that? Seriously I wish I could be as awesome as Miss Ellie G.
