Last week I posted this ridiculously fabulous picture of myself:

So yesterday when I should have been cleaning (oh how many stories I tell that begin with that sentence….) I just finished responding to emails and Victorious was on Nick. This is a show that I don’t let my girls watch but since I am a mom and the remote was across the room and the girls were playing in the back yard….(Go with me here on this random tangent)

In the episode Tori had to perform “The Bird Scene” , a scene that everyone that goes to her school has to do correctly without any help from others. She performs the scene 3 times and after each one asks if she got it right, to which her teacher tells her no. After receiving the third no, Tori gets mad and tells him that she worked really hard on it and she didn’t care if he liked it or not, that she was proud of it. And that was the right answer. The teacher explained that artists need to create for themselves and not for everyone’s approval, or if they are doing things the “right” way.

I was like YES!

Part of embracing your inner DIYer is embracing ALL that comes along with it. Like the sweet get up!

This may sound strange but I bet a few of you will get it. When I am all paint covered and have to run to the store I DON’T CARE. You know how  most guys have scars that are like their trophies? That is how I feel about paint. It is my trophy for the day, that I did something great. Unhygienic? Possibly. But its true!

So for todays challenge I want you to share your DIY get up and you thoughts on wearing it in public!

Welcome to Challenge #2 of the Fearlessly Finding Awesome Club (FFA,  no cows involved). Last challenge I encouraged you to write about how you want your home to FEEL.

Yesterday I jumped on the Homegoods website because its my FAVORITE Store store (ie non thrift store) and saw that they have a style quiz. Now if you’ve read VR long enough you know that I love junk like that and ALWAYS take them.

Well, guess what?

It was DEAD on. It took everything that I have spent months trying to say and describe and wrapped it up in a neat little paragraph.

Freaky right?

Literally Homegoods are you looking in my windows? It also said that I have a problem with organization and clutter…YES!

I think that describes me PERFECTLY. I mean it even talks about humor! And not being afraid to take risks. I literally want to marry whoever wrote this because CLEARLY they are my soul mate.

So.

Before you can start decorating all willy nilly you need to have a plan.

We are not talking a room design plan here people.

When I design a space the FIRST thing that I start with is the FEELING that I want to get from it.

I want my home to feel like me. Happy, energetic, a little strange, positive, and really really unique. So that is how I decorate it.

Today you get to write about YOUR personality traits. What are some of your favorite things about yourself?

And decide how you want your home to feel.

A house doesn’t feel Shabby Chic, it feels worn and loved. Does that make sense? Don’t hold back. If you want your house to feel exciting, neutral, and collected then that is GREAT!

When I look at Hailee’s house, to me it feels energizing and calming at the same time.

YOU DO NOT NEED A BLOG TO BE IN THE FFA!
