Hey Lady!!
That is a great question! The board is 1″ thick so at THE MOST it would be poking out 1/2″ into the foam which is 4″ thick. I tried to feel them and couldnt find them. If you were to use thinner foam and longer screws that might be a problem though!!

About the mending straps, I understand the foam would hide them visually, but would you still be able to feel them through the foam? My fear would be that one of my four crazy boys would jump into it & get hurt…??
