Brand new Mac on Thursday. Trying to blog today and I’m like “oooooohhhh crap I lost my WLW!” LOL So, I google and you’re the top post my friend! I am going to try to make this work! Wish me luck. If it does, look out for that big smooch in a few weeks at Haven! 🙂

Hi. I’m currently researching possibilities to get WLW to run on a Mac. If I understand you coorectly you basically do that in a VM. This would be my ultimate last ressort. Of course you can run WLW anywhere where you can and this is not quite “getting it to run on a Mac”, although it kinda solves the problem of not being able to use it without a physical PC (to me that seems similar to getting a car to run again by hauling it around on the back of a truck). I was thinking more along the lines of Mono – anybody tried something like that?

Downloading Windows 10 now using Parallels. Keeping my fingers crossed this works. A decent-size blog asked me to guest post…but I need to use Windows Live Writer, which I had never even heard of!
I love my Mac…why Windows?!?!

hi there!! I found your post while googling WLW – I have been using this for several years now and since I switched to mac 2 years ago, I’ve been using it on the windows – but NOT a parallel – it’s a “bootcamp” – basically I have to restart the mac and select WINDOWS if I want to use windows, and restart and switch back to MAC if I want to return to MAC. as I use windows ONLY for the blogging, it was ok – but as I am blogging more and more it became so annoying to restart when I want to change.

I do not intend to install parallels as it slows down the mac significantly and I have a macair – I was wondering if you are still using WLW or if you have by any chance found an altenrative to WLW for MAC???? I’ve been told to chk out BLOGSTOMP – which I did – and I didn’t see the point of using blog stomp if I was already using WLW! I just drag the pics and it auto sizes and margins for me – except of course It doesn’t create collages but I just use simple side by side images so it works for me.

please let me know if you have found an alterantive to WLW in mac? would love to know!! thanks so much for sharing.

That is not really running WLW on mac, it still needs windows OS to run. With this logic you can buy windows laptop, literally put it on top of the Mac laptop, create blog article and call it “running Windows live writer on a mac”.

That’s a great tip but maybe there’s a even easier and better solution. Blogo is now the home for all the WLW users that migrated from Windows to Mac and want to keep using a good blogging app. You mentioned some features that we’re about to add but I’m sure that it will be all covered pretty soon. I’ve never heard of this! My Mac is so slow already I’m going to have to clean it up before I try installing windows too. I’m so ridiculously curious to try it out now though
