ITS HERE!!! Its finally time for another Hoard Sale and guess what!? its at The Merc!!

For those that may be scratching your heads about what a Hoard Sale is, let me give you a little background. Back in the early days of Vintage Revivals I started a yearly yard sale called The Hoard Sale where I sold off loads of my treasures. Its a yard sale in the loosest sense of the term, there is dancing and music and food and SO.MUCH.GOOD.STUFF. I haven’t done it for the last 2 years (pregnancy + baby) but it is happening this year and we are clearing out my storage units!

Don’t show up expecting to find baby gear, clothes, or toys, this is strictly a decor based sale. Some of the pieces are in killer condition, some are in typical condition for their age, and some are definite project pieces. Basically its a furniture hunter’s dream. We’re also going to have new letter boards, VR kits, and FREE SWIG! Guys, its entirely possible that the world is going to implode from the culmination of awesomeness, in which case I’m sorry, but what a cool way to go out!!

The best part of the entire situation is that its going to be held at The Merc!! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS!??! In person real life tours!!! I’m opening the doors before we start renovations so that you guys can experience it in all its preloved glory!!

Mark your calendars, doors open on Saturday May 13th at 9:00 am SHARP! And just to cover all of your bases, you should probably put your email address in the form below to get some sneak peeks and a couple of reminder emails so that even in #momfog you don’t forget!!

Happy Friday to my favorite people!!

I cant believe that it has been 2 weeks since the Hoard Sale. I feel like I am still trying to recover!

Every year I go through the same cycle. Look at all of the stuff. Feel good about the amount of stuff I have. See how many people sign up for the info (588 this year!) Freak out because I don’t have that much stuff. Eat a cookie about it. Decided that it just has to be good enough. Unload the stuff. Think that my garage must have Mary Poppins like qualities, because there is NO WAY all of that stuff could fit in such a small space. Enjoy the heck out of the actual sale, like its in my top 5 most awesome things. Die. (Repeat every year)

I am so glad that Brooke loves furniture as much as I do. There is not a better friend to team up with for an event like this.

Huge thank you to everyone that came out and joined us (except the guy that stole our signs because we wouldn’t let him in early). Meeting people that love this kind of stuff the way we do is the best feeling in the entire world. AND it shows Court that I am not the only crazy person that loves old furniture. I couldn’t believe how far some of you had come. Blogging is a little solitary so it is amazing to be able to put a face (and a hug!) to some of you.

We had Waffle Love join us all the way from Provo (4 hours away!) and it.was.life.changing. Have you guys tried a WaffLuv waffle? It is the stuff dreams are made out of. I am seriously excited/nervous that they are opening a truck in St. George. My girls are already asking about it.

The Dance Off was EPIC, and totally got everyone excited to party (at 8:00 in the morning!)

People who don’t take themselves too seriously are my favorite kind. And old people. I love old people.

There were a few pretty awesome things left so I have a really fun makeover series planned. Think Jenny Jones…

So I sort of have this thing that happens when I get stressed. Even though I feel calm inside, when a big deadline is looming the middle of my back starts to hurt. Guess what? My back is hurting. But for good reason,  the Hoard Sale is TOMORROW!!

I am sending out the email with directions later today, so if you haven’t signed up to receive it yet, you can do that at the end of this post.

Did you hear that Waffle Love is coming all the way down from Provo to share in the festivities!? I am seriously excited about it. Rumor has it that the reason that they are so amazing is because there are actual unicorn tears in them,  from the unicorns that cry because they are just so delicious.

Also, have you ever wanted to be my next door neighbor? Well it is your lucky day! The house that they have been working on next door is done and it is BEAUTIFUL. They are hosting an open house during the sale so you can go and check it out while you are here.

Hey guys!! I am very excited today to be announcing all of the details for the 2014 Hoard Sale! If you are new to the party, here is the low down..

The Hoard Sale started about a year after the blog began. All of that thrifting had started to pile up  So I threw up a few funny ads on Craigslist and had a little yard sale. Since that first sale, I have teamed up with Brooke and let me tell you, our furniture buying skills are legendary. Over the years it has morphed from a yard sale to an 8 AM party of Black Friday proportions. (You can see the posts about previous sales  here, and here.)

There is basically a street full of amazing furniture and home decor. Nothing else. No clothing, no baby toys, no weird medical equipment. Just really cool furniture. Some was bought specifically for the sale, some you will recognize from the blogs, and some was bought with great hopes and dreams in mind that just haven’t come to fruition.

We are selling chairs, dressers, tables, lighting, art, books, knick knacks, headboards, Basically if you can put it in your house we will have it.

The festivities will kick off Saturday May 31 at 7:30 with the dance off. Oh yes. The dance off. A handful of willing participants groove their guts out for a chance to be admitted into the sale early. It. is. AWESOME. Also, my neighbors love it. The sale itself will start at 8 AM.

You will want to be there early I promise.

The sale is in St. George Utah and unfortunately none of the items can be sold and shipped.

Holy Crapballs. You guys, the Hoard Sale last Saturday was a HUGE success. I am shocked and beyond humbled at how many of you came (and how far some of you travelled!)  It was so fun seeing old friends and meeting so many new ones! Instead of being all “Look at what you missed.” I am going to give you a rundown of the events, just like you are my partner in crime. That way its like you were right there with us!!

Whats that noise? Oh dont worry. Its your alarm going off…at 4:00 in the morning. And since we just fell asleep 2 hours ago, lets just hit snooze for a few more minutes, shall we?

4:36 ok now its time to REALLY get up. The sale starts in 4 hours and you have over 100 pieces of amazingness to move, clean and price. I mean, we could have done some of that beforehand but why, when you can experience the rush of heart palpitations?!

5:30 Still moving furniture out of the garage. How.Is.There.So.Much.Stuff.Still?

6:00 The sign hanging commences. And be grateful that you at least did that part beforehand.

7:00 The sun is up and people are starting to line up. Finally everything is moved outside!! Um…we should probably change out of our pjs. Its not a good look.

7:10  No time to do our hair folks, we still have to finish pricing!! Though I must admit the tear-away tags were genius. My tags were yellow and Brooke’s were orange. That way nothing got mixed up!

7:25-8:10 Run around like a mad woman? Check. Almost vomit 6 times because of adrenaline and the stress? Check. Pull it together and just learn not to bend over so far? Check.

8:15 We have 1 take to get the video intro right. Dun dun dun….Its good enough, lets move!

8:20 Announce that the Dance Off is ready to start. This was one of my favorite parts of the Hoard Sale last year,  unfortunately we did it after the huge crowd had dispersed. But not this year. We were setting the mood for the entire day, and it was going to be poppin. 9 willing participants shook what their momma gave them for a chance to get early entrance into the sale and first pick of one item. We also had a costume contest (and I dont know how!) but we missed getting a picture with Paige the Hoard Sale Ninja.

8:23 Laugh until you almost pee and marvel at the moves that the ladies (especially the preggo ones!) have. Personally i am just glad that I am not responsible for Sierra’s water breaking during Womanizer, because we were all a little concerned about that. Fun fact:  That is the same Sierra that got the Emerald Green Guest Room Makeover a few month back!

8:30  The sale is ready to begin. Start your fast that a) no one gets trampled Black Friday style and b) no one starts to riot.

8:32  The first customer is in line and the true madness begins. There is lots of hugging and screeching and picture taking and project planning happening.

9:21 The first wave is over,  now we get to pull everything forward and rearrange so that it doesnt look picked over. Lesbihonest here. This is still the greatest yard sale selection that St. George has seen all year.

From 10:30-12:30 there is lots of sweating (its hot here!!) negotiating and laughing. And then the rain begins and its time to close up shop and head to Swig for celebratory Dirty Dr. Peppers and Sugar Cookies with my favorite girls in the world.

Was the sale worth it? Abso-FREAKING-lutely. I sold about 90% of my  items , made some cash, and got to hang out with die hard furniture junkies. Sounds like the best Saturday of the year to me!

I am writing this post from the chandelier,  that I am currently swinging on because I am so excited to meet so many of you tomorrow!! I know that a lot of you are coming in from out of town so I thought it would be fun to tell you about a few of my favorite spots that you can visit while you are here! (Because I always love suggestions from locals,  it makes me happy.)

Swig (989 E. Tabernacle St. St. George UT 84770)

I mean. You know that this is #1 on the list right? You would be crazy to not head over there (yes, the line is long. Deal.) Order a sugar cookie and a Dirty Dr. Pepper (Dr. Pepper with coconut syrup). And then go get back in line,  because you will want another one.

Our family literally eats here a minimum of 3x a week. I love the steak or carnitas salad. You can sit inside or out,  and the manager is probably the hottest man I have ever seen. This is the part where I should mention that he is my husband.

{Re}cycled Consign and Design (59 W Center St. Cedar City UT)

Now while this store isn’t in St. George its only about 35 minutes north in Cedar City. It is HANDS DOWN my favorite place to shop for clothing and accessories. And they sell TONS of amazing furniture and other decor deliciousness. You will not believe that a store this cool lives in Cedar City. Pinky promise. AND because Amanda is one of my favorites she is giving a 20% discount in store when you mention Vintage Revivals!! Make sure to follow them on Insta to see all the latest and greatest!

TJ Maxx/Homegoods (42 South River Road)

The St. George Homegoods has been dubbed the best in Utah. I have to agree. There is just so much stuff and the get new shipments on Fridays so it will be well stocked!

During the scorching summer heat,  one of our favorite treats are Snow Cones. We have become snow cone connoisseurs. This one is the best. I always order Pomegranate with Cream. As strange as the “with Cream” may sound, don’t knock it till you try it. It just may change your life too.

And if you have time you MUST hit up a park while you are here. Snow Canyon and Zion are a favorite.

Today is the day. The calm before the storm that is going to flood my blog with daily posts for the next month. I am excited but I hope I dont drown or find myself twitching in the corner.

I thought I would share with you guys the status of the Hoard for the Hoard Sale 2013.

If your eyes are glazing over because you have no idea what I am talking about read this first.

I didn’t know that it was possible but this thing has multiplied like rabbits. And its only going to get bigger. Its like furniture rabbits. I need a t shirt that says that.

Not everything in the picture is being sold, and there are some things that I am still on the fence about (like the green craigslist chairs) but it its going to be EXCITING!!!

A few of you emailed me and wanted an address. It makes me a little nervous to just post my address on the internet. So the plan is a couple of days before the sale I am going to email everyone that leaves their email address below. If you are planning on coming sign up below!

Dun dun dun DUUUUUUN! (Very exciting announcement to follow.)

The Hoard Sale is upon us folks. For those who are scratching your head wondering what in the world a Hoard Sale is let me tell you.

One of the ramifications of having a DIY blog where the focus is thrifting related is that you accumulate a lot of stuff. And by a lot I mean, well a lot. At my house the accumulation of such items is called The Hoard. It is a living, breathing, organism that lives in the garage but often times can be found dividing and multiplying in the trunk of my car, the corner of the bedroom, and in every closet that can be closed off to visitors. The Hoard has a tendency to grow exponentially when the weather warms up and yard sales abound.

And once a year I team up with my BFF Brooke to sell off anything that doesnt have a home INSIDE the house. It is very fun and traumatic at the same time (because some of the stuff is just SO good!)

Last year we threw it together at the last minute and this is what it looked like:

But it is a fantastic way for us to sell our crap, connect with our readers, and be able to park in our garages again…for at least a week.

This year we wanted to give you plenty of time to get your ducks in order so that you can join us! The sale is on the calendar for May 18, 2013 and begins at 8 AM SHARP. It is located in St. George UT (we are about an hour and 1/2 north of Vegas) and it is THE sale of the year.

It is stuff we have found on Craigslist and at the thrift store that is handpicked and we have a) used in our house already b) bought for our houses with the best of intentions.

There will be some pre-finished pieces for those that are not DIYers, but the majority is project central.

I had to clean out my garage just to make room for the literal 2 truckfulls of treasures I found this weekend. Want a sneak peek of some of the goodies?

One of the lessons that I have learned in my DIY life is when you are shopping (ESPECIALLY thriting) and you see something you like GET IT. It will save you money in the long run to pay $8.00 for a chair as opposed to $100+ because you NEED it.

But alas my friends, when you follow this plan you accumulate a lot of stuff. And by a lot, I mean every time someone rings my doorbell unexpectedly I have a vision of the TV crew from Hoarders showing up.

Last week I teamed up with my BFF Brooke @ All Things Thrifty to have a giant Hoard Sale, and it was EPIC. THANK YOU to everyone who came and travelled and danced,  you guys are so amazing!!

There was only a handful of things left when we shut her down at 12:30.

We had the BEST time getting to know so many readers and though there were a few things that we were heartbroken to see go we know they went somewhere awesome.

This will be a yearly event (possibly more frequently depending on the state of our garages) so if you missed this one you have something to look forward to!
