What a busy busy week. For those of you who started reading Vintage Revivals since the Epic Room Makeover announcement lets do a quick recap.

I came up with the idea to have a giveaway contest sponsored by products that I truly love and go to someones house (anywhere in the US) for a free room makeover. Vintage Revivals style.

After 3 rounds of elimination the winner was Jessica Rowan. The funny thing is that she lives about 20 minutes from where my parents live in Salt Lake. Crazy right?

This is the room that Jessica submitted.

Her cluttery, not awesome in the least master bedroom.

And this is what it looks like now.

The biggest complaint that she had was with her closet doors. There were none.

So in all manner of epicness I created this freakishly awesome solution.

See this wall of board and batten?

Well… its sort of magic.

Both sides slide open. Sweet right? This is probably one of my most favorite projects ever and the best part is that it was made using inexpensive things that you can find at any Home Depot.

This corner was super crowded with an armoire before:

Are you DYING over that stencil? It is Endless Moorish Circles from Royal Design Studio. Amazing right?

And the paint colors are PERFECT. The gray is Empire State and the white is Ultra White both from Dutch Boy. If you are looking for the perfect gray I would bet my first born that you will love this one.

I totally stole the board and batten pattern from one of my BBFF’s Emily @ Décor Chick. Love that girl.

The chandy started out like this:

I used hanging garden baskets to make the cage around it and spray painted it with Krylon’s Metallic Brass.

I wish I could say that I came up with this BRILLIANT idea on my own but alas I stole it from the amazing Shannon at Anythingology.

Do you remember the post I did about the perfect dresser that got away?

Well Jessica had one just like it except it was red. Its sort of the Makeover Miracle.

It got a coat of Krylon Sun Yellow (which is the most perfect yellow on the planet.) And its better than the one that got away. Boom.

The headboard was an old door that Jessica had.

We chopped off about a foot and 1/2 and added crown molding and painted it with Krylon Emerald Green. The panels inside are covered with Ikea fabric and I put nailhead trim along the insides.

Hmmm lets see what else was there?

Oh yes the Roman Numeral art. MMVI stands for 2006 which is the year Jessica and her husband Allan were married.

I used a few different colors of watered down Decoart and my Purdy brush to get this weathered finish. I wanted it to look a little more rough than mine.

The Ikea rug had a really simple update with Americana acrylic paint. Which has a super bright concentrated color, ideal for something like this rug.

Now don’t get all crazy when I tell you this but all of the glazing was done with Decoart’s Antiquing Medium…not RL faux glaze. There was just a little bit on the mirror, headboard, and on the end table. I love that you can custom mix the perfect amount with is. It was also a lot thicker than RL’s which I loved.

If you are a newbie glazer give this a try. $3.00 is not as big of a commitment as $20 for a pint of regular glaze.

Also thanks to Purdy I am not against cutting in anymore!! Holla my hubs is going to be so happy!! Now I might actually go and finish the trim in Dylan’s room…

Second I need to thank my wonderful friends who helped me SOOO much. You know how they say you should have a doctor and a lawyer etc in your circle? Well for a DIYer it’s a little different.

Amy @ Ameroonie Designs is my resident mathmetician. I told her what I wanted the board and batten to look like and she told me how many boards, what distance apart, you know all the hard mathy stuff.

Tam @ Sew Dang Cute let me adopt her Silhouette a few times so I didn’t have to bring mine up. Even super late on Sunday night we got to hang while it was doing its magic. And she just had her baby 12 hours ago so she deserves a plate of cookies x 3.

Mandi @ Tidbits from the Tremaynes is just one of the most amazing people I have ever made friends with. On top of helping us cut the crown molding for the headboard she was my rock and voice of reason through all of this. I knew that regardless of my question she could help me figure out the answer.

And so so many others that came and helped paint and install and problem solve!

I am super excited to be considered for this room makeover. My master bedroom needs Mandi’s creative juices to come in and take it from drab to fab.

We moved into our home the week before Christmas, and have so far totally neglected decorating our room. I want to spend some time focusing on the one place in the house that should be a special retreat for my husband and I (who will be celebrating 13 years of marriage in June…pretty sure that would be an awesome anniversary gift for two crazy kids in love!).

It’s a great room with some amazing features (I mean, really, we have our OWN separate walk in closets…that’s what keeps a marriage alive baby!), but I like to compare our bedroom to a teenager whose gotten in with the wrong crowd. A juvenile delinquent you might say, that has lots of potential but just isn’t living up to it.

So please vote for my room. It’s in serious need of a makeover to take it out of it’s beige funk. Mandi, I am pleading with you to come to Seattle and give my room some love! We have coffee shops on every corner and enough rain to make you want to build an ark. Come see for yourself!

Entry #2 Sheila @ The Adventures Of Ordy and Joon

Let’s face it, I’m nowhere near as awesome as Mandi, nor will I ever be… but I like to think my living room has a chance to be! I see SO much potential when I see my living room but I can’t get past certain things {um, like the gold fireplace}:
1) Time restraints. {studying.all.the.time}
2) Budget restraints {student loans}
3) Design brick wall {so many designs floating around in my head I end up with this: a whole lotta NOTHING!}

But the good news?
1) It’s SUMMERTIME for me-I’ve got all the time in the world to get busy and fix this place with Mandi’s help!
2) Um, hello. All the amazing sponsors would cover the costs! And I’d take Mandi to every thrift shop in Atlanta!
3) Picking a design comes naturally for Mandi, I trust her 100%. In fact, too much. I would be ok with purple walls with pink polka dots if Mandi says so…

Oh the many many reasons you should vote for Corner House…

Possibly the biggest reason you should vote for me is because I live in Farmington UT. So if you live in UT too we can all totally get together for a girls night or something. Mandi will be there so you know it will be epic. Ooooh, maybe we could even have a house party once we finish the room, that way we can all enjoy it. Also I REALLY (and I can’t stress REALLY enough) want to win this. I am a little concerned that if I don’t win this giveaway I may never get this room done. Ummm did I mention I REALLY want to win? Entry #4 Jessica @ My World Made By Hand

Why should I win you ask? Well, let me tell you…I’m a 32 year old working mother living in Herriman, Utah (and you can bet your bottom dolla we WILL be having a Girls Night Out where local Utahns can meet Miss Mandi herself). I have four rug-rats and I’m married to a fabulous 33 year old ‘boy’ who is an Over The Road Truck Driver (which means he is gone 4-6 days every week). As you can imagine, this leaves me little, actually NO time to take care of myself even in the smallest of ways. My families needs (ie, my kids, awe shucks…who am I kidding, my husbands needs too) have always come before mine and will for the foreseeable future (I’m sure all of you can relate). There is, of course, budget constraints as well…with the economy in the state it is in (remember the hubby drives semi trucks) and with a somewhat large family (did I mention the dogs? oh ya…two 50+ pound pitties) the only dough that will be put into the bedroom any time soon is the kind that keeps my MUFFIN TOP from going flat! Get to the point you say?!?

Oh alright {and here I thought you were enjoying my rambling}…I need help…motivation…some OOMPH…I need MANDI to turn this catch-all, oversized storage closet into the inviting, luxurious, serene Master Bedroom me and my Boo~Bear have always dreamed of…a room for me to escape the insanity surrounding me while the hubby is gone bye-bye but a lair of cuddle fun when he isn’t {teehee…excuse me while Iblush}.

SAAANCTUUUARYYYY…..SAAAANCTUUUARYYYY! OH wait … whats that???

I don’t have one of those, but surely would love to have one. My life with kid boogers, curdled milk sippies, poopy diapers, sandcastles in my living room, tears and more tears, laundry piles, dog hair, time outs, middle of the night screaming, toilet scrubbing, working stay at home mom….really could use  a special place. A place to cuddle with my kids, a place to lay in relaxation, a place to unwind from the horrors of the day, a place to share with my husband a place to…to just breath and think of the many thinks I have in my life that make me happy{especially those darn adorable boogery kids}.

I have lived in this house for 4 years and my room still looks like a big brown blob of gross. I often lie awake in the early hours staring at the ugly walls (and the boob light) and think of many things that could do if I had the money, the time, and the help…then my cute girls wake up and we start a new day.
