A New Chapter for Vintage Revivals

By Mandi 04/01/2015

Hey hey!!

I have been going back and forth for months about turning Vintage Revivals into more of a lifestyle blog, you know with recipes, fashion, Crossfit Inspo, and a little bit of DIY sprinkled in!

Basically I am going for total blogosphere domination. #letsdothis

I thought today would be a great day to kick things off with my first fashion post!!

Of course, I don’t actually own anything that isn’t covered in paint, but that’s not a problem. We are making this thing happen. So, after a full day of projects (and on my 4th trip to Home Depot in a 9 hour period) I thought “Eh, what the heck, lets just shoot it here.” It is after all, where I am most comfortable.

What I’m wearing:

Pants: The sweats that I quit for my New Years resolution. You can find them just about anywhere! Just make sure that you get a Men’s XXL for the desired effect.
Shirt: Court’s T shirt that had a little accident with a black paint can (sold out, similar style here)
Sunnies: Dollar store
Shoes: these lace slip-ons from Target
Paint Brush: Purdy XL Glide
Paint on my hands:  Tricorn Black in satin by Sherwin-Williams
Arm Candy:  Goodie Hair Ties

I mean, there are still so many ins and outs of a lifestyle blog to learn, so I hope that you guys don’t mind being guinea pigs for a few months. Tomorrow’s post:  How to hard boil and dye an egg in the oven (at the same time!!) and 14 of my favorite Easter green smoothie recipes!

  6. time for a “who wore it best” paint clothes submission contest, don’t you think? Mines a hot pink tee with lime green shorts. I look like a watermelon covered in fungus.

    1. Mine are chocolate brown Capri “lounge pants” and a pink Oxford t shirt, cause I like to pretend I’m smart when inhaling paint fumes:)

  7. I read the first few sentences and thought, “Noooooooooo!” I just came from Emily Henderson’s website where she did a post about skinny jeans. I am not a fan of “lifestyle” blogs- they seem so pretentious. I say stick to what you know! Then I kept reading your post and literally laughed out loud. A lot. You’re amazing!

  8. You’re hilarious. And I was falling for it until I saw the Home Depot photos…

  9. Ha ha you are so funny!!! When I saw the paint brush on instagram I thought it was gonna be coloring hair with a paint brush

  10. Oh. My. Gosh. I just died laughing!! You are too funny! My fave is the paint brush in your hair!!!

  11. Now I love you even more. Your DIY wardrobe makes you a real person we can actually relate to. When I read the post title being a fashion one, my heart sank. When I saw the sweats and paint smears, I smiled.

  21. Just when I think I can’t love you any more… the sweatpants… thought I was the only one with a pair that look like that… only difference mine are black.. or were to start. Anyhoo, you are always a fantastic dish of inspiration with a generous chuckle on top!

  22. Love it. I’ve gone there like that many times myself in the middle of a project. Whatever you do will be awesome, because you rock. But don’t minimize the DIY because it’s just TOO good.

  26. Mandy. You seriously had me there for a minute, I was worried (God knows I’ve seen this happen to a million other blogs!). But OMG way to make my day. This is hilarious and refreshing and I LOVE the paint recommendations. Wanna hit us up with a couple of sponsored posts for some XXL sweats?! Bahahaha. Love this. Happy April Fool’s 😀

  27. Just catching up on blog reading. You have no idea how much I love this. Especially since my friend Cassie and I have talked numerous times about doing something just like this, although not on April fools day but just because I feel strongly about staged fashion posts and not looking all that dressed up on my regular days. The photos are too good 😉 Love your humor

  28. You had me at hey hey! This post pretty much made my year…yeah, it’s that good. You’re hilarious and I LOVE it!! This is pretty much how I feel on the reg with my fashion and working in the shop with wood (that’s what I do…I build stuff and tear down barns!) NOT glamorous but it’s pretty Bad Ass and I love it. I feel like we could do a modeling post together 🙂
