The longer I thrift the more I appreciate unique one-of-a-kindish pieces. The more I embrace the décor of decades past for the sheer quality of the items, and the more my house turns into my Grandparents.
I mean, lets run down the list shall we?
Crazy colored velour chair?
Check. I have an entire couch.
Stereo cabinets?
Check. Have you met Vicki?
Random tchockies that are really strange/awesome?
ALL OVER MY FREAKIN HOUSE.
OOOH OOOH how about Bob Ross Happy Trees painting?
Done and done.
And the reason for this post, the thing that pushed me over into full Grannydom…
Garishly bright floral drapery?
Oh yes. We are SO going there.
Though I am not using it for drapes….
BUT if I ever post about one of these you have my permission for a full intervention.
Love Your Guts, Mandi
Yeah . . . your style definitely isn’t granny. I’m curious to find out what you tufted. Tufted ottoman?
I won’t intervene if I see macrame, but I WILL intervene if you get a bit too granny and put plastic covers on your furniture. 🙂 I’m very much into the retro/mid-century modern look. It comes with buying a house made in 1958. We even have the stereotypical pink tile bathroom. I’m guessing that fabric is a headboard. Can’t wait to see if I’m right or wrong!
The macramé is not a punishable offense. There’s plenty of macramé floating around on Pinterest now that has a fresh and modern feel. Yes, the example is pretty awful, but don’t count it out completely. Now that I’ve officially changed your way of thinking, I can’t wait to see your macramé plant hanger.
Nikki Kelly @ the ambitious procrastinator
I was about to tell you that your style wasn’t granny… until you brought out the fabric. My grandparents patio furniture was that exact pattern! It’s so nostalgic, though. I’m sure you can give the pattern an awesome update, can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I just have to tell you: You are so freaking cute! I saw you on Craft Wars (I totally think you should have made it to the finals, btw), and now your blog is one of my daily reads. Love it!
Macrame…..got it. If I see vinyl/ plastic on that couch, you will be busted. 🙂
I am excited to see the black and white rug. So cute!
The material I remember the first time around and really don’t like it but …Please not the macrame pot hangers!
Hey! Don’t knock the knots! LOL! I love macrame’ and when it is done properly it can be quite beautiful and long lasting! Love the nostalgia! Thanks!
I can actually totally see you managing to rock a crocheted plant hanger like this one: https://pinkparsley-galleria.blogspot.ca/
You’re not gonna rock the macrame? Bummer– NOT. =)
(BTW, I love your use of the word “tchockies”….. my friends give me a hard time about it. I am glad to hear someone else under the age of 50 using that word conversationally). =)
Tufted headboard???? 😀 That would be super exciting!!!
Actually. Macrame is quite hot right now, sissy. Just didn’t want you to get left behind 🙂
Although you are totally right about ALL of your Gannylicious items, you style them waaay better than granny ever could. I love your granny things and am totally jealous of your house. Can’t wait to see what you did that’s tufted with bright floral fabric!
This made me laugh because my husband pleaded with me to not have our whole house look like his grandma lived there… but it keeps going further and further into grannydom. But we’re both happy and that’s all matters. I just found your blog the other day and have been combing through all the posts. I love love love your style, thanks for sharing!
LOL!! I would certainly have to draw the line there!
Amazing! I want *all* of it 🙂
I found your blog recently and it has been keeping me company with my pregnancy insomnia, so thank you for that! Also, you said to intervene if you started posting about macrame. I giggled for a few minutes cause that has totally been your thing lately. I love your updated versions though, especially the dip dyed one. Love reading all your inspiration and can’t wait to try some of these projects! (We made your swig cookies last weekend and they were a big hit!)
