We are kicking off the summer with a whirlwind kitchen renovation, are you ready to follow along every step of the way?!! We’ve partnered with Samsung to show off their newest Tuscan Stainless appliances and it is one for the history books!!
Court’s family has a cabin in the mountains just north of the Merc and it has been our escape from the heat of the Southern Utah summer for the last few years. It is our FAVORITE place to hang out as an extended family and can get pretty crazy when everyone is there. When we bought it a few years ago it was exactly what you’d expect from a cabin built in the late 90’s. Oak builder grade grossness with appliances that have surely seen better days. We did a quick paint job on the cabinets and changed out the flooring when we added on last year but it still needs some serious TLC.
Also I know that this is a verrrry dramatic before. Court went up to take measurements and pictures and this is what he came back with…(don’t worry, I’ll get a proper before!)
I fell in love with Samsung’s brand new Tuscan Stainless appliances in February when I took a trip to KBIS (you can read all about that here!) I dont know about you, but I’m over the cool neutral grays that have dominated this space for the last 10 years. Neutrals in a kitchen are pretty important, but let’s flip the coin and being in some warm neutrals! (Though it does look seriously killer with blue cabinets!!)
This is what the space looks like right now:
The plan is to bring in some serious storage- with such a large extended family you can image what it looks like trying to store everyone’s food for 4 or 5 days, we’ve got one small cabinet that we use and it’s default status is overflowing-that’s before everyone comes with their new food for the week. The lower storage is frustrating because everything either gets lost in the back (and never seen again) or that space is a complete waste and never gets used. Function is the name of the game.
I’m going to add some floor to ceiling cabinets in this awkward bump out, that way each family has their own cabinet as a way to corral their goods.
We’re taking out and replacing the lower cabinets and countertops with something easier to clean and less heavy visually (and WAY more functional!!)
I’ve decided to do open shelving along the walls for dishes, glasses, bowls, and treats. The normal every day stuff that gets used over and over again.
And of course the star of the show is our new Samsung Tuscan Stainless appliances! That warm bronze is the inspiration for this whole overhaul!
Oh and did I mention that the whole reno is happening over the course of 10 days? It’s going to be epic!!
Oh this is going to be so good! But Mandi! When do we get a photo tour of the Merc?! I’m dying over here!
What is behind the bump-out where you’re adding all the new storage?
The stairs!
Pine Valley? I take a girl’s trip up there every summer.
I am crazy loving the bronze! But the price? How does it compare?
i can’t wait to see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Job Buddy!!
