Friday is HERE!! I am heading out of town today to speak at the Kanab Women’s Forum and I am SUPER excited about it! If you are in So. UT and have a free day tomorrow I would love to meet you! Ticket info is here.
Remember a few weeks ago when I announced that Creating With The Stars was back? I was super excited to get going, my partner was Jessica from Mad In Crafts. Round one theme was upcycling and Jess came up with an awesome project. She used vertical blinds (you know, those HORRIBLE things!) and turned them into a headboard. I thought it was such a great project and was literally SHOCKED when I saw that she had been eliminated. Am I crazy? Anyways. Jess has some amazing projects over on her blog so pop over and cheer her up a little. Did I mention that I was shocked?
I got an email from my BFF Jilly that said “You will LOVE this blog.” with a link to Brooklyn To West. UM HELLO TALENT. Arielle Alasko is the talented designer behind the blog and I sent her an email just to tell her how fantastic I thought she was. The subject line was something along the lines of “I feel like I want to propose to you.” Too soon? Meh. She is amazing and I literally want to drive across the country just to hang out with her. Is it weird that seeing someone’s designs will make you want to do that?
Do you guys read The Hunted Interior? If not then consider yourself behind. Kristin Jackson is the DIY mind behind this blog, she has got a killer style and I love reading her posts. She is going to be HUGE one day. Mark my words. This girl is the real deal.
I have had to channel my inner foodie the last few days in anticipation of the ONLY recipe that you will ever see here on Vintage Revivals. Cookie photography is something that my friend Bridget has down pat. She is like a frosting ninja and one of my absolute favorite reads, even though I never cook, and only make frosting so I can keep it in my fridge to eat by the spoonful. Check out Bake at 350 and make sure there are no children around, because they will be SO excited by her cute cookies that they will beg you incessantly to make some for them. Thanks Bridg.
So what are some of your favorite blogs? I am always looking for new reads, leave a link in the comments (even if its your own!)
Oh I love hearing about new blogs!! I had started a little series before I got pregnant and had to take a hold on any real blogging (boo! I miss it!)on different blogs I like to read. Some weren’t real popular, but I liked them!
I love to read https://www.iloverehabs.com/ and https://www.craftycupboard.net/. But those are just 2 of the long long list!
Oh and I have to say, I am glad that not one person or even a panel of people have to judge the crafting with the stars contest. There is NO way I could give any of those ladies the boot!!
I love the hunted interior too, I agree she’s going places! I’d love for you to check out my blog http://www.dwellingsbydevore.com 🙂
Love those blogs. I have a serious girl crush on Kristin (in the bloggy, not-weird kind of way). I also love A Little Glass Box. Her style and photography is AMAZING.
I was 100% shocked to see the blind/headboard go out, I voted for that one! Such an original idea. Thanks for the blog recommendations – just what I needed on a quiet Friday at work (shhh, dont tell!). Now for the shameless self promotion: https://magiccitythistle.blogspot.com/
Monica and I couldn’t believe Jessica had been eliminated either! Such a cool project. 🙁
On a side note: your mom-in-law’s living room looked like something Nate Berkus put together. So.fab. LOVED it!
Jess
If it makes you feel any better, that project was one of my votes!
I thought she did an amazing job transforming those hideous blinds. I was a bit shocked she was eliminated! I’ve been following Kristin for awhile now, but I am excited to check out Brooklyn to West.

I recently cleaned out my bloggy closet by UNsubscribing to 2 dozen or more that just were taking up valuable time/space in my day. One of the few I kept and always will is Posie Gets Cozy ( https://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/ ). Alicia Paulson’s style and photography and writing speak to my soul! You will LOVE!
Ok, I just have to say, I’m not necessary new to your blog but you’re so awesome. when you wake up and think, “someone in Texas has to read my blog in order to ‘complete’ her day”, that’s when you know!! haha I totally love your blog!!
Well you just made my freakin weekend Mandi! Thanks for the shout out!!
xo- Kristin
Arielle Alasko! Wow, you were not kidding! Did you see that freaking awesome chair that she hand stamped the fabric with a homemade rubber stamp? I almost fainted. If you don’t propose, I will. Seriously. So, thanks…another blog to follow. 🙂 sweet!
Love me some Hunted Interior too.
And…how did the headboard project get voted off? That’s just crazy.
Love The Hunted Interior too, such amazing inspiration every time! Also totally digging Thistlewood Farm lately, laugh-out-loud writing, beautiful pics, and inspiring projects. Sarah M Dorsey is another favorite, so talented, and a total sweetheart. Aaaaand just realized that Karianne and Sarah are both CWTS contestants! Must mean I have great taste in bloggers 🙂 Headed over to check out Brooklyn to West.
Oh my GOSH!!! You totally made my day/week/whatever! You KNOW I love you and your blog!
I’m off to check out these other blogs & get inspired…
{thank you,thank you!}
Love The Hunted Interior!
Have to go and check the other ones out too.
I love The Hunted Interior and I just discovered Blue Egg Brown Nest! She does great work with chalk paint. I discovered you when you where on the Nate show in Dec 2011. I was in the audience and totally mesmerized by your transformations! You inspired me to get into blogging! Love you!

I’ve found a bunch of new fun blogs this week
First mine is https://www.polkadotchair.com

I like Thistlewood Farms, also. Her asthetic is right up my alley. I also like There’s more where that came from by Page Kellerman…it’s not a design blog, but it is hilarious! And there’s always my blog…thebackyardbungalow.com
I love Arielle Alasko’s blog. It’s one of my favorites!
She is a true artist. Her tables are beyond amazing!
They say a true friend is one who shares the spotlight! Kudos to you Mandi, you do this often and via many avenues through your blog! My daughter and son-in-law are going to NYU and Brooklyn is one of their most favorite places in New York, so they had told me about Brooklyn to West.
My father-in-law was a cabinet builder and creator of beautiful wood furniture, so appreciation of beautiful wood put together in an artistic fahion runs deep in our family. I’m a “closet” decorator and DIYer. My husband inherited buiklding “gifts” from his dad and my daughter is a “for real” interior designer, so I have lots of help seeing my creative juices come together in wonderful form that makes our house a home.
I’m inspired by you and so many other creative home design bloggers out there, but being “maturish” lack some of the tech savvy to ever entertain joining your ranks of the blogosphere! (Infact, I hope I’m doing this comment correctly! ha!) However, if you ever desire to just catch your breath and gather a little peace of mind, visit http://www.mytributejournal.com and be glad for all those that have helped you along the way so that you can live the life you love! With Sincere thanks, Mary Wilding
I’m late to the party, but I can’t wait to go through all of the comments to find some new stuff to read. Some of my favorites, besides Vintage Revival of course, are:
Apartment Therapy – I think it’s a great place to find new blogs when they feature other people’s projects and ideas. My favorite recently is their renovation diaries of people that are taking on massive remodeling projects in their homes.
Sawdust & Embryos – They have some great how-to’s, ideas, and add a different out look on things from what I normally have.
Retro Ranch Reno – I also have a midcentury/retro ranch style home, so it’s great to see what other people are doing in their similar styled homes.
I totally knew that was your girl. I tried voting for the blinds headboard but the voting was being weird on my phone 🙁 I hope she didn’t need only one more vote. I thought the entries were all so great but the headboard was so unique.
My blog!

Oh my good heck! I totally have extra blind slats and wondered what creative thing I could do with them… but I was clueless… not anymore! Thanks again!
