I have this thing where I always go into freaky project mode right before a deadline. I dont know why, its crazy. But my best ideas seem to come right at the end (of course). In true Mandi fashion, the day before HGTV Mag knocked on my door I had a project idea strike.
Insert a giant marquee letter stage left!

The full step by step tutorial (with pictures!) is over on HGTV.com right now. You can pop over and check it out here!
I just want to take a few seconds of your time and thank everyone for all of the amazing support that you guys have given me with this fun announcement. Reading your comments and seeing your tweets just makes me feel so good, so thank you a million times over! I value the time that you are here so so much and I am so happy that we are internet besties!
Now, who wants to dance?
Very cute!! Keep in mind that if your globe lights are not LED they can get pretty hot & the poster board around the edge can become a fire hazard. I made some marquee letters last year & used metal for the edging. You can buy rolls of metal that is the perfect width for this project by the flashing at Lowes. Be safe 😉 Love your projects!!
Thanks mindi. I’ve had my lights to make one of these for months but was putting it off because I wanted metal trim. I was planning to cut my own but would much rather just buy it ready to go.
Hey Mandi! We are so happy for you. So fun to see what you’ve done. You’re amazing! So glad we can call you a FISH Friend!
I wanna dance! #timber 🙂
I love your guts, this is too good!
This is so cute! I clicked over to read the directions, and maybe my brain isn’t working today, but I literally have no idea what steps 7-10 mean. I am so confused! are you bending the mdf board?? why are you stapling along a line? what are you stapling it to? I need more pictures!
my brain too! Needed more pictures to help with those steps.
Very cool to be featured in HGTV but the tutorial is hard to follow.
When I opened up my HGTV magazine, I was thrilled to see you, Mindi, in there! I feel as if I’ve known you for a long while (I read, but I don’t comment) and it was a delight to see you elsewhere. I was wondering about the marquee light, because I would have remembered it in your girl’s room. What a great addition!
Holy freakin’ crap. Look at you! You’ve got some serious talent. Have I ever told you that because of your awesomeness I’m not afraid to actually DIY? Cuz you’re awesome.
Took a look at HGTV.com its missing a certain Mandiness! Please keep your personal touches here too! I know how important the HGTV thing is to you though!
That came out amazing!
You’re a flippin genius!! I love you!!
Love, LoVe, LOVE the Sharpie Paint Pen Wallpaper!!!!!!! THANK YOU for being a FELLOW FAN of the REMARKABLE Sharpie Pain Pen too! I thought I was the only one and have you ever used Sharpie’s glitter pens??? There not as fabulous as the paint pens, but they are pretty fabulous in their own right. I have one set and have had a difficult time tracking down any more but you would probably LOVE them TOO!!! They blow away Martha Stewart glitter pens which are sloppy and runny – and they have a great weight of line to them which is much better than gel pens …I even like them better than the Copic spica atayla glitter pens which are fantastic! The Sharpie Glitter pens just rock…it may sound stupid but I use them daily even if it’s just to decorate my kids lunch bags! Now I’m off to find some wallpaper to “paint” in my own walls! Again, Thanks You…Your blog is a DELIGHTFUL Breath of FRESH AIR!!!!! Best wishes, Shannon
I fell upon your blog so completely randomly, and I read “your story.” I cannot tell you what beauty and strength you are and what an inspirational story that was. It brought tears to my eyes and burning within. Thank you so much for sharing that and for sharing your amazing talents. Know that you truly are a light!!! May God continue to bless you and your sweet family! ❌⭕️❌⭕️
