You guys! I have missed your guts!
If you dont follow along on instagram then you might not know that I am in London. I know!!!! Its crazy right!? London!
After a few long flights and an airport mishap we arrived Tuesday afternoon and it is gorgeous! I am having a pretty hard time adjusting to the time difference, 7 hours is crazy! But I am doing my best. I was invited over by Cricut to speak at the UK launch of the Explore and we have been having an amazing time!
We did a little bit of sightseeing while hunting for food, and spent a few hours on Oxford Street shopping. (I am DYING to get back over there!)Â I found the most flattering pleated skirt of my entire life and I need to go and see if they have one in every color of the rainbow!
We have laughed until we cried at the British girls doing an American accent. It is SO weird to hear them mimic it!
The event just wrapped and it was incredible to meet an entirely new group of women. It is so exciting to see people’s faces light up when they see the way the machine works and when they understand that it is changing the way you can create.
I also want to shout from the rooftops that the interview that I did with Target is on The Bullseye View blog today! I am chatting about finding inspiration and why I think all DIYers need to be Fearless! Come over and say hello (in my mind I just said that with a British accent. It was really good. That was also British. I cant stop!)
I am hoping to get a tutorial up tomorrow for the Sharpie Wall, we will see if the jet lag wins the war tonight.
Do you Londonites have any suggestions for amazing vintage shops that I can track down? I would love to find some treasures while I am here!
I NEED the macrame tutorial from Macie’s bedroom! I have the perfect spot for it 🙂
Where did you find THE SKIRT? I’ll be in London next week.
For vintage- Portabello road is a must. Go early on Saturday.
Nothing to do with vintage stuff, but try to fit in high tea at the Orangery in Kensington Gardens. So pretty and British.
You should watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZXcRqFmFa8
It’s a music video that’s all in gibberish, but apparently that’s what American accents sound like to non-English speakers! It’s hilarious!
London sounds fun, I’m glad you had a good time! I’ll be sure to read that interview with Target. 🙂
That’s so great that bullying the bullseye got you an interview! Go you!
Welcome to London. We find it hilarious when Americans try to do English accents too!
There are so many good vintage shops in London, you have to check out the Brick Lane area as well as Portobello Market and Radio Days is a fantastic vintage shop near Waterloo. xxx
try rokit in covent garden, or beyond retro behind oxford st
love that you’re writing in a british accent hahahaha – although actual british people would probably say english accent.. (just so you can sound like a local!) https://thewanderlusthasgotme.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/afternoon-tea-at-charing-cross-hotel.html
Hiya!! It was such a pleasure to meet you today! I’m not going to lie, the American accent impersonations had me crying too 😀 I am so excited to give the Cricut explore ago it was such a delight to play with today. I may need to treat myself to that beautiful skirt! Have a brilliant ‘surprise’ whatever it is 😀 xxxx
The Londoners will have the best recommendations but this tourist seconds the suggestion of Portabello Road and includes Covent Garden. I have gotten many lovely little things (prints from old books, beautiful spoons and maps, etc.)
Mandi… PORTBELLO Road!!!!! You must check it out!!!!!
We were in London for a few weeks last summer visiting family and were able to visit a bunch of great places for vintage goods (we brought an entire extra suitcase just to bring back our haul!). My favorite (and probably the cheapest) was the Bermondsy st market on the East side of town. I believe the market is every Friday morning (https://www.londontown.com/LondonInformation/Attraction/New_Caledonian_Market/a544/- more info on the market and some photos of what you might see there are on my blog- https://www.farmfreshtherapy.com/blog/london-trip-bermondsey-street-borough-market). Alfie’s antique market (https://www.alfiesantiques.com/) is also fun too, especially for an eclectic mix of things. Have fun!
Portobello Market: https://www.portobellomarket.org/ Super fun!
I would check out Camden Market. It’s an eclectic mix of shops and food in Camden Town. Similar to our outdoor flea markets but a great mix of vintage and handmade products from different countries.
great interview with Target… but I’ll admit I was looking for an apology from them. Or something more that “Target was inspired by her style.” Really, inspired??? Was hoping for more from them. Disappointed.
On a happier note… Can’t wait to get myself to London. Sounds so dreamy!!
I miss London! We were there just over a year ago. Have fun! 🙂
What an amazing trip! You should check out Spitalfields Market (www.oldspitalfieldsmarket.com/) near Liverpool St station. So many amazing finds, and you can walk to Brick Lane from there too. Cobbled streets, lots of unique shops and 2nd hand shops. Have a fantastic time!
I just wanted to say it was a joy to meet you yesterday at the Cricut Explore launch. You were great and I hope that we can keep in touch.
Best vintage/thrift shopping in London is HANDS DOWN Camden Market. It’s insane. I was blown away at the variety, quantity, quality, and low prices.
What Kate says for sure: Spittalfields and Brick Lane! Have fun 🙂
Mandi, I am sooooo excited for you. I have been pining away for the Cricut Explore. It made it into my Mother’s Day Wishes post, because I heart it. Badly. I can’t wait to see what else you do with it!
I love London! Make sure you fit in the American tourist things too! Big Ben, double decker buses, Buckingham Palace, etc. Such beautiful architecture, the parks are lovely, and the accents! Can’t wait to get back.
Brick Lane in Shoreditch, trendy/edgy and vintage with lots of street art. I’m a Chicagoan living and working in London…just had a co-worker mocking my accent today, it was hilarious.
WHERE is that skirt from?!
Beyond Retro, Brick Lane or Kingsland Road. Definitely check out the east end of London– the coolest!
Oh my goodness, how exciting!!! London??? you go girl!
Check out Aspiring Kennedy’s blog, she has all sorts of places in Europe to go to. Not sure about vintage stores but definitely food! Give it a try!
We have tons and I mean TONS of charity shops here in the UK. I guess their equivalent over in the US are thrift shops. You have to sort through all the not so useful and used stuff and find the hidden gems underneath. Personally, the vintage shops near me are quite overpriced, better off in the small villages if you have time.
Looks like you’re having an absolute blast in London Town. I’m so pleased as I love this place! 🙂 If you fancy a little more edge you should check out Brixton Market in South London – it’s a great spot for dinner and drinks in one of the numerous pop-up restos and bars that are springing up all over the market!
Enjoy!
Hey!
So awesome to meet you at the Cricut Explore UK launch and to discover your wonderful blog! I’m writing up about my experience of the day right now!
The highlight of my daughters summer trip to London was going to Hillsong Church on a Sunday afternoon, at Dominion Theatre, she had a blast!
I’m from CA not London, but the Camden Lock market is sweet.

yeah… that’t the best Target can do?? That sucks Target. I expect more for less.
