Yo yo!
I was reawakened to the state of my garage at the end of last week. The tile for the kitchen was delivered and I had to make room for it. There were a handful of treasures left over from the Hoard Sale (and unfortunately a handful of furniture is not the same as a handful of rice, or of books, or of well, anything representing less than 1/2 of a garage.)
As I was moving things out and back in I had a come to Jesus with myself about them. Most of it is stuff that is really great, but not my style anymore, or something that I really like but I am not going to take it to the grave.
Would you believe that in a garage full of treasures there are only 3 things that I will carry with me for as long as it takes to find their perfect home?
These are my Cold Dead Fingers pieces.
Want to see them?
Up first is the favorite chair of my life. It totally needs to be reupholstered, but MAN it is so good. I dont have a spot in our house right now, but I care, it is not going anywhere. I bought it from my friend Amanda for $25 and I am pretty sure those cute little legs were created out of my dreams.
Next is a old brass billiard light. I bought this baby a year and 1/2 ago and I still love it just as much as the day we met. I am hoping to put it in my kitchen, the problem is that my ceilings are so tall, that it looks too short. Oh and the builder didnt center the light in the eat in area of the kitchen on anything…so the junction box needs to be moved. Court is excited about that. So I am still working out the logistics, but I am not ready to give up yet.
Last is a recent ReStore find. Last week I stopped by for a quick run through. As I was pulling out, their truck was pulling in. Latched to the back corner I saw something that was the best vintage powder blue, I knew it had to be life changing. So I flipped my car around and went to check it out. Originally they were not going to sell it, but I passed along my phone number and said if they wanted to I would buy it in a second. Later that day Tat sent me a text letting me know it was avaliable. At $79 it wasnt the cheapest thing that I have ever purchased, but it is just SO amazing, I knew I would kick myself for years if I passed it up.
Now is the really fun part. If you are on Instagram snap a picture of your most treasured piece(s) and tag it with #colddeadfingers. I LOVE seeing what your favorite things are and I know everyone else does too! In a week or so I will do a wrap up post and share my favorites!
Those chairs are completely lickable!!! Never let go!
Where have you been! Love your treasures, I need more pieces that I am absolutely in love with!!!
I think we must have the same style! I've got a desk that would go perfect in a room with your chairs 🙂
Those chair legs are AMAZING!
oh my… I'm not surprised you're never letting go of these – all three are beautiful!!
Ha! Our garage is currently under construction so everything is in a storage unit… curious what I'll think of my hoard when we go to unpack it all again. NOTHING has a spot in the house, mind you….

That REstore find is AWESOME. I would probably die if I found something like that and for that price!

Mandi, I am absolutely in LOVE with all 3 of your Cold Dead Finger pieces! Beautiful. I may have an idea that would work for one of your treasures. The Light: Does it unscrew into pieces? I'm thinking that you could disassemble the straight shaft and replace it with another longer shaft so that you could work it into your home. Just a thought. And if you ever should decide to get rid of that chair let me know. Love Love.

I love these pieces! The light is gorgeous and yes, you made a great decision with that file cabinet. $80 is nothing in the realm of retail… I think you did well!
Love all your favourites (except the chair legs I'm sorry to say). l can imagine curling up in that chair when it's reupholstered – it is certainly big enough….a good book, a glass of wine…….
OMG these are all gorgeous!!!!!
So fun! And that chair is great.
I'm sure an electrician could help you with the light. I'm guessing the long rod could be cut out and replaced with a similar one that was longer. That thing is too good to not use somewhere!
Thank you for making me feel better about the things I am holding onto that I really like but just don't see working in any of our spaces right now.

I would love to have the file cabinet
I am very excited for this!! Can’t wait to see everyone’s loves. Whoop whoop!
The Baby Giraffe
Yes, Yes, and Yes. Whew.
P.S. Those chair legs are smokin’ hot, baby.
I did a little rundown of this “challenge” on my blog today. I had to give you a shoutout. you are so talented and i find your story to be so inspiring. thanks for coming up with such a fun idea that we can all share together!
Love, love, love the filing cabinet, I’d have swung my Tuscon around so fast my head would have been swiveling to get that!! Lucky You! You appreciate a great find!
Love this idea. I tried the come to Jesus approach when I moved into a one bedroom in downtown Charleston. Unfortunately, true to myself, I just found more things to fill my place with afterward. 😉
