Hey hey! Ok so if I miss something that you wanted to know more info about PLEASE leave your question in the comments and I will answer it! You can see the original reveal post for Hailee’s Living Room here.
First lets get the paint colors out of the way. The white is Ultra Pure White. All paint companies have an ultra white base. That’s what you want to use. The grayish taupe is a color called Hopsack by Ralph Lauren. If you go to Home Depot they can still mix that color for you even though they no longer sell RL. The teal that was used in the hallway and on a few elements is called Tempo Teal from Sherwin Williams. Can I just pause this this thought and tell you that I love the employees at SW? They are SO knowledgeable. Plus they have the BEST Purdy stuff that you cant get anywhere else in St. George. I sort of want to do a post on just the Purdy section of their store.
Lets start with this shot:
The ceiling fan was purchased at Home Depot for around $250
The amazingly cute high gloss white end table was from Tj Maxx/Homegoods. Which lets face it is one of the greatest stores ever. If I am not thrifting that is my first stop because they have the eclectic randomness that a thrift store has…but new!
The picture frames were purchased at Roberts Crafts (you can also get them at Michaels) for $20.00 each. The maps inside are pages from an old atlas that I bought when I did Jessica’s Room Makeover.
The PVC Pipe Dresser was bought at a garage sale for $50.00. You can see the tutorial for that here. It was painted with Gloss White by Krylon.
The yellow lamps I had been hoarding in my garage for a few months. They were at the DI (Utah’s version of the Goodwill) for $8.00 each. They were originally gold and were painted Sun Yellow by Krylon. The drum shades are from Target.
The sisal rug is from Ikea. You can see another way I have changed up a boring sisal rug with my Compass Rose Stenciled Rug Tutorial. The houndstooth stencil was custom made by Royal Design Studio and will hopefully be available for purchase later this week!!! (I will keep you posted!)
The fabric for the white fur pillow was purchased from Joann’s. The multi colored medallion fabric is in the line Restoration by Studio E.
The chairs are from Pier 1. They were $169.99 each.
Every single one of these books, statues and tchosky are from the thrift store except the tall vase on the table (Pier 1 clearance $11.00) and the A OK hand (Tj Maxx $9.99).
The fabric used for the taupe pillow in this picture is from Hometown by Moda.
The little white end table was an awesome find at a local consignment shop.
The supplies for the curtains (Drop Cloth, Rope, Eyehooks) were purchased from Lowes and Home Depot. The rope cleats used to tie off the curtain rod can be purchased at a boat supply store.
The light in the corner was purchased at Restore for $49.00. The yarn that was used to cover the shade is from Roberts Crafts. It is made by Red Heart and the colors are Real Teal, Aruba Sea, and White.
The fabric on the pillows is from Joann’s.
The mirror was one that Hailee had on hand and it was painted Sun Yellow by Krylon.
This light fixture was found at the DI for $5.00. The school house globe is around $4.00 from Home Depot.
You can see the full tutorial on how to paint the hallway here. The lights were purchased at the DI and Restore and the basket/cages were found at Wal-Mart for $5.00 each. You can see a full tutorial on how to assemble them here (hanging basket chandelier)
If there is something that I missed let me know!
I don’t have the exact total back from Hailee yet but I am estimating we spend between $1500- $1800. Pretty amazing, right?!
How about a tutorial on doing board and batten on walls with rounded corners? Pretty please with sugar on top 🙂
Love, love, love the whole room!!!! Come do my home 😉 Great color inspiration. This gives me lots of great ideas.
Love it all sista.
Hi- I’d love to see a tutorial on the yarn wrapped shade. How did you keep the yarn attached? GLue Gun?
Thanks,
Aubry
What was the total cost of the board and batten. Sorry of I missed it in the reading, but I did not see anything about that.
I can’t stop drooling over this room & your talent!! I am beyond inspired! I happened to be online browsing for furniture for my new apt & came across a chair that should be named after you! https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=23477987&navAction=jump&isProduct=true&parentid=MORE%20IDEAS&isProduct=true&cross-sell=true&guide-bn=true
And just like the chair, I’ll never be lucky enough to have this in my apt!! In my dreams! Thank you for the inspiration though fo seriously, you are da bomb diggity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<3
I wan to know more about the board and batten too. Does it only work well if you have tall ceilings??
I love the whole room, but i’d kill for those yellow lamps. LOVE them.
I have been waiting for new info ever since I first saw pics on Apartment Therapy! Fantastic work! I want to do these curtains for my little boys room, and we ran out today to both Home Depot and Lowes to get the fixings, and we were not able to find the “Eyehooks”, could you direct me to which store you found them in and in what department…please!! Also, a tutorial would be awesome (trying to figure out how you attached the fabric to the hoops that slide across the rope). Thank you!
When you said all the kick knacks were from DI, I was thinking you meant on the table. Then you said the “A OK hand” I was all- wait.hold.the phone.
All the tchosky’s? You rock the DI girl! I’m lucky to find one good buy a month in that department.
Anyhow- awesome, awesome makeover!
You had me at the houndstooth rug…I LOVE…seriously, please keep us updated on the stencil! I’m SO jealous of all of your Goodwill (or DI?!?) finds…I go to our local one constantly and NEVER find things like that! Consider yourself lucky! Gorgeous room!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
I Love the whole room! The blue on the light really caught my eye as well as the fabric covered chairs!
Gorgeous!
this room is awesome. I am waiting for you to post something about how you put shelves in that window/hole in the wall. I have a similar one that I am eyeing now that I see your idea. Will you be posting details on that?
It just looks great. I *need* you to come to my house when I buy one (hopefully by the end of the year). Can you be bribed? lol
I just love this room. I keep coming back and seeing something new… and have made a shopping list to use to search thrift stores with! Lamps, rug, mirror, maps… I would love to have you do over my house, but Australia is a bit far to come!
You are AMAZING and inspiring! LOVE your work. I look forward to reading more how to’s. I’m also interested in the board and batten.. I’ve got a family room blank, just built our house last year. Has 18 feet ceilings on one side and is divided by an upstairs hallway on the other.. I’d really like some more molding character, but it’s difficult to decide..

Mandi! I am so glad you commented on my blog. My mom called me right after she met you. She had no idea I was such a huge fan of yours. She couldnt stop talking about how darling you are. I would love to talk with you sometime about your blog and learn from the best. Good luck with the Studio 5 projects, I am sure you will be excellent.
I really love this makeover! Will you be doing a tutorial on the panel that you put on the wall? Or if you can just tell me what kind did you use? 1×3..1×4?
You’re awesome..keep up the great work!!
Great color inspiration. This gives me lots of great ideas. Thanks 🙂
Love it! I too would love a tutorial or any info on doing board & batten on walls with rounded corners. It scares me! 🙂
awesome! i would love to hear how you made the shelves. we have a cutout wall too and i would love to finish it off like that!
You are a gale force designer, baby. It’s like everything you touch turns to gold. (I know it takes more work than it looks like, but still.)
You constantly impress me. Kudos!
🙂
Love this makeover, and the best part is that it features DARK leather couches. We have dark leather couches and I have been having a really hard time figuring out how to redo our living area because every photo I see has white or light colored fabric couches. Thank you for the inspiration!
