Wreath, Vintage Revivals style.

By Mandi 10/08/2010

I want to be festive,  I really do. So this is my attempt today.
I know that ya’llllll are just dying to know how I did this right? (not.) Anyways here’s the tut (pronounced toot,  as in short for Tutorial just incase you didnt grasp it.)
1. Get yourself a junky frame for $1 at the thrift store.
2. Paint it flat black
3. Get yourself a junky pumpkin for $5.00 from Wally’s.
4. Cut out a back for your frame. Since it was so junky it didn’t have anything with it. Diaper boxes add to the white trash factor. Which is always a bonus in my book.

5. Use a scrap of fabric that you have laying around to cover the cardboard. I used spray adhesive.

6. This next step is the hardest of all. Get out the sharpest knife you own and cut your pumpkin in half BEHIND the stem.
WHAT THE?!?!?!??…..SAND!
You suck Better Homes and Garden.
I would advise everyone to do this step outside. Unless you want sand in all the miniscule crevaces of your reclaimed wood table.
Jerks.
7. You know I cant leave well enough alone so I busted out the  BPF (Best Painting Friend) Ralph Lauren faux glaze in black silk.

DON’T YOU JUDGE MY MESSY HOUSE!
8. I then took the Junky Punky outside and “sanded” it on the cement to smooth out all of the rough Styrofoam so that it was flat on the backside. Sort of like my husband.
9. I used Tacky Glue because it was that or painters tape to mount it to the board and TA DA! You have cute door decor to keep up with the ones floating around blogland.

  1. That is so darned creative! I already have a frame with this cute black & white scrapbook paper in it. Then it got tucked away in a closet. I think I’ll be diggin that sucker back out this very weekend;)

  2. bwah ha ha ha ha!!!! I think this is the funniest post you’ve put up to date! Oh, man! I was reminded of all my “SURPRISE – don’t do this how I did this” tutorials as I read along – especially the sand part… but THEN I got to the “flat, like my husband’s backside” and that just clinched it. Mostly because I make fun of MY husband for that same reason. 🙂 ALSO, love the fact that you have a messy house like me, although I couldn’t really tell until you told me. So, in short, not only is this a cute way to keep up with the jones’s – bloggily speaking, but I thank you for making me laugh.

PS – I gave you an award today:
