You know when you have a few days of chaos and it feels like it has been weeks since you latest contact with the outside world? That is how I am feeling today.
Last Friday I was out of town working on Caraโs office,ย all was right with the world, until I got a call from Court. He was headed to the Emergency Room. Cute Dyl was playing Beach Party with my nieces (it is a whole game that theyโve made up with a song and everything.)ย According to her this is exactly what happened.
โUm so we were dancingโฆย me and Soph were dancing and we were playing (for full effect sing the next part) Lets go down to the seashore. Waves are rolling in,ย waves are rolling in. Take my hand jump into the waterโฆSPLASH! So um I jumped off the bed and I land on it weird.โ
She broke it right above the elbow. The hospital staff adored her (of course)ย and her new nickname is Chubby Cheetos because of her puffy iodine stained fingers.
My adorable Mom and Dad drove down from Salt Lake and spent the next couple of days with us and we loved every second of it. I am so grateful for our families,ย they are the best in the entire world. And needless to say, I haven’t opened my computer for days, so if you have recently emailed me, hang tight I will get back to you!
If you follow me on Instagram then you know that we hit a major snag in our Kitchen Reno. After we demoโed the tile and thinset, I pulled out the hardwood that we had ordered. I feel like I need to preface this by saying that I did not expect a perfect match to the hardwood that we have now 4 years later. I knew that there would be a possible snag, but the online image and the samples that were sent were great, so we went ahead with the order.
So after proper acclimation time (1 week) we pulled out the wood and it didn’t match. The new wood is the very darkest color in our floors, with no color variation. Our floors have HUGE amounts of variation in them. The samples looked fine because one or 2 rows would have worked, but a whole room would have looked horrendous.
With that option taken off the table, we were heartbroken and left with tile. The bottom left is the one that we have chosen. I think it is going to look great,ย I am still justย a little frustrated by the whole situation. You guys will get the full story as soon as it all plays out.

I feel like I need a nap. Who is with me?
So sorry that your sweet little girl got hurt! Hope she mends quickly! In the meantime spoil her rotten!! lol I feel your pain when something doesn't turn out on a remodel, been there done that! But Im sure everything will work out! Good Luck!
Oh, poor little kidlet! That hurts! But she gets to eat lots of ice cream, right? Because of the calcium (I'm always looking for an excuse to eat ice cream).
I love your floors. I'm looking at your pictures and getting floor envy because mine won't be pretty like that. Dag nabbit!
The tile will be beautiful though!
She is too freaking adorable!
Sometimes blessings sneak up on us. I'm sure the tile will work out fine. Hiccups and challenges sometimes bring out something we wouldn't have thought of otherwise.
Sorry to hear about your daughter. Here's to a quick recovery!
Poor little gal! Glad to see injury hasn't seemed to dampen her spirits and she certainly is a cutie. I'm sure the tile will look great even though it wasn't your first choice. You have a way with making everything look awesome!
Awh, poor little girl! I remember my sister doing a very similar thing and breaking that same bone in her arm. She had to have surgery, but I'm glad your sweet little babe didn't! Glad you got some time to just be mom and daughter. ๐
You must be related to me because BOTH of my daughters broke their arms in that same place! I'm sure she will be like new in no time. And just a tip since bath time can be difficult with a cast that goes up to the armpit: a local beauty shop washed and dried my daughters' hair for just $5. Not a bad deal and it kept their casts perfectly dry!
Well she is surely the cutest wearer of casts that I've ever seen ๐ What a beautiful girl you have.
Can we just do a comment page on how cute she is?
Boo squared.
It will all work out. I know from the deepest depths of my cardio-vascular muscle.
Just joined up. Sorry about your little girl. You should investigate cork flooring for your kitchen. It is the best! Attractive, warm, insulative, very quiet and soft. Dishes bounce off! Plus, it wears very well and is easy on one's feet and back. That's why it's in so many museum and libraries. ifloor has great prices and alot of choice. I preferred them to lumber liquidators who totally did NOT stand behind a friend's flooring. Anyway, check it out. CTD
I think you'll end up loving that tile! I've seen it in so many hotels lately, it has such a sharp, clean look.
I hear ya girlfriend! Hope your daughter feels better! I have been moving and it feels like a year that I haven't been settled. Back to blogging in no time! Sending good vibes your way : )
