DIY Leather Luggage Tags + Cricut Explore Air Giveaway!

By Mandi 04/08/2015

Oh man! We’re halfway through the #cricuteverywhere week of inspiration (and PRIZES!) I cant believe it!

A few weeks ago took a little trip up to Salt Lake to film some fun video with Cricut for this campaign. You guys. I wish you could have been there. It was SUCH a blast hanging out with everyone and learning how these types of videos come together. Especially getting the product shots. That was (surprisingly) way harder than the interview part. They asked me about everything under the sun (and yes, I may have cried.) but we’ll get to that in a second.

2 things, 1. if you don’t love leather I don’t know if we can still be friends, and 2. You deserve a cute luggage tag.

These are SIMPLE. Because it is a Make It Now project, everything is perfectly sized and ready to roll. All you have to do is plug in your info (unless your name is Margo Phillips and your phone # is (123)456-7890 then today is your lucky day!)  Ps. When I was working on this project, I asked Janae for a cute name. Margo was her suggestion, so there you go!

You’ll Need:

Cricut Explore Air
Leather that measures at least 6”x6”
Leather string
Midnight Pen
Hot glue gun or fabric glue

Once you have your name and other info on the design, select Weld and load your mat. It’s show time.

The luggage tag is double sided, so once everything is sketched and cut out, you’ll need to glue them together.

Use the leather string to attach it to your luggage and you are ready for some major adventuring. I feel like Margo has something exciting planned.

Are you guys ready for today’s giveaway?! They only get better from this point forward FYI.

  1. Awesome job, and awesome videos. I already knew your story, but seeing you get tearful and open up your heart and experience like that — so sweet, so honest, so touching!

  2. You are SO REAL Mandi, that’s why people live you. I appreciate you making my day sunnier, by reminding me, Don’t sweat the small stuff.

  3. This was just a blessing to me to see and believe the leather cutting capabilities! And you’re ADORABLE!
I hope one day you see the email I sent you recently. You don’t have the answer the leather questions anymore. I just want you to see the other stuff!
Keep on doin’ and inspiring! Thank you!

  4. Uh oh, I don’t love leather. I actually despise it and the cruelty behind it. :o( Your videos are great though.

  5. You inspire us all sweet girl:) thank you for teaching us all it is possible to be fearless in your called way to express and show your joy:)

  6. These videos! I love you more now than ever. Thanks for being so genuine. I also appreciate that Court is OK with you talking about your and his experience. I come from a long line of alcoholics, my mom lost both her parents and her youngest sister to liver cirrhosis. We won’t even talk about my dad and half his family. It is hard on the addicts but even harder on their loved ones. Your and Court’s honesty help so many people. Thanks for keeping it real and being awesome.

  7. Hi! I absolutely love these tags! Where did you source your leather, and what was the thickness? I believe you can only cut 3mm or less on the Cricut. Thanks!

  8. Hi! I’m wondering what exact type of pen you used? And it looks like it just wrote on the leather correct? It didn’t engrave it?
    Thanks!

  9. I am looking to make a couple of these but trying to find the right kind of leather. All I could find for the cricut is faux leather. What do you suggest?
