Happy Monday my loves!! I thought it might be a little fun to start off this week with a glance backward. I have been so busy with projects and holiday’s and being out of town that it has been a long time since I have hit up my beloved thrift store. Finally on Friday I had a few minutes to stop by and MAN the Thrifting Gods must have missed my happy face, because I totally scored!
First find on the list is this Mid Century coffee table set.
The tops are made out of Formica and I LOVE the gold inlay. It reminds me of the facade of “It’s a Small World”. But the legs are what sold me. Price? $15 for the coffee table and $12 for each of the two tier end tables.
Thrift Store Art is my favorite kind. It just makes me SO happy! Last year I even did a series on it called Thrift Store Art Warms My Heart.
So my heart was basically on fire when I found this embroidered bird picture. I am mighty obsessed with the colors and the different patterns. It was a little expensive at $10 but I knew that if I didn’t get it, I would regret it. Art is a lot easier to find a home for than a piece of furniture.
I also found these black and white sketches of the organs in the LDS Tabernacle and Assembly Hall. They totally remind me of these pictures I found last year.
The one thing that I did pass up? A giant bag of Pogs. I ALMOST bought them but they were $25 and I couldn’t justify spending more on a bag of Pogs than I did on a table.
Hope you have the best Monday ever!
Ok I get why you got the tables and the bird picture. Love all of it! But why would you have bought the pogs? For your kids or a project?
These are so fun! I’m so glad you bought the coffee table – I was the first comment on Instagram & practically screaming “YES! BUY IT!!!” 🙂
Hey – just a little shameless plug for something: a few blogging friends and I host a #thriftscorethursday hashtag party every Thursday and we would be absolutely tickled pink if you wanted to use the hashtag on an Instagram photo or tweet to help us get the word out! *okay, done shamelessly plugging*
Love your thrift scores Mandi!
Will you move to Jersey & be my thrifting bff? Puh-leese? I’ll buy you an authentic Philly Cheesesteak & for dessert…TASTYKAKES!!!
Love the picture esp. for the colors.
First time commenter here – those tables are AMAZING. Like, ok fine, I will click over and sign in on my phone just to tell you how amazing they are. Love it!
Wow, that bird Art is just so beautiful. Great finds!
Oh, I love these kinds of posts! It would be so fun to go thrift shopping with you! I would never bat an eye at the kinds of art you pick up in thrift stores, but when I see it in your home? It always looks fantastic. But what heck is a pog? I’m feeling young…
As an embroiderer, you got the needlework piece at a steal. For insurance purposes when entering a piece in a show, you multifply the hours put into making the piece times minimum wage plus cost of materials. I would say that piece is worth more than $300-$400. I love it and would have snapped it up too. Unfortunately many people do not understand the work that goes into handwork.
Those tables are a fantastic find! I’m totally jealous!
You totally inspired me to look at the art section during my many thrift store runs and a couple of weeks ago I scored BIG TIME! Fell in love with a beautiful, HUGE, oil painting of a ship! I get giddy every.single.time I walk by it in my house. 🙂
Those tables are so beautiful! Great find!
That is a major score! I love it!!
The birds remind me of Charley Harper’s artwork! If you ever want to sell that baby, keep me in mind?
You scored big girl! I never see embroidery as pretty as that!
I love the tables. What a great find!!!
I think – I THINK – that lovely bird picture wants to fly over and live in my office. 🙂
love the coffee table and my heart melts for the bird picture.
I just googled pogs and I see it’s a game….but I still don’t quite understand what it is.
Love the bird art!
I LOVE these types of posts!! woohoo!!
I do love all your find but my favorite has to be the sketches of the organs. my great great grandfather helped build the organ in the old tabernacle ands my grandmother sang in the motab choir as a teen until she died of breast cancer in her twenties. well done!!
Great finds. The bird art is adorable.
I guess I’m need more definition of what pogs are too. Maybe you could do a post about [them-it] so we could all understand. 😀 Connie @ bradshawshouse.blogspot.com
Ok I could totally see the pogs inlayed in epoxy on a tabletop! What a great gameroom addition! Love the tables and the needlework too!
those birds make my heart pitter patter!!! Wonderful finds!
OMG! I love those birds! Seriously awesome!
So jealous of your bird art!! I’ve been collecting crewelwork/embroidered pieces (via Etsy and flea sales) to do a gallery wall in my daughter’s room!! Love that piece! If you can’t find a spot for it you know who to call!!
Sometimes if I can’t (It is silly and a waste of money) buy something at DI I take a picture..and feel better about it. Good job holding off!! I am sure someone more “needy” will give those lonely pogs a home!!
I’m first time follower, first time commenter (I feel like I’m on the radio) but I LOVE your site! Not sure how I stumbled upon it (Feedly or referred by another blog I follow) but I’m happy I did! I love the simplicity of the design of your site and the readability (as well as your writing and photos!) PS. I’m SUPER glad you got the bird picture from the thrift shop…it’s a-mazing (and I’m a bit jeal.)
Just found this blog 🙂 I’m a die hard thriftier … and LOVE the joy that comes from a good score!!!! The bird picture … yes, you can’t pass that up. Too awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I’m not sure how I came about your blog, BUT, I’m wondering if we may be twins! lol. I am getting so excited at your posts, and the fire its putting in my rear, to get off my butt and get some projects done. This cold weather is killing me. But, if I can say this, You are SO talented and creative~ and if you are ever in Wilmington, NC, let me know, so we can grab a coffee and go thrifting! We’ve got some good ones here 🙂
Sorry to cut it short, but I need to get back to looking at your posts/projects/reveals, they’re AMAZZZZING!
