Thrift Shop Glam Feature #1

By Mandi 11/03/2010

We are starting a movement people!
Its called Thrift Shop Glam.
Its for all of us DIYers whose junk is too butch and colorful for Shabby Chic, and a little to old and eclectic for Modern.

Definition:

Thrift Shop:  a retail store that sells secondhand goods at reduced prices.

Glam: full of glamour; charmingly or fascinatingly attractive, esp. in a mysterious or magical way. Full of excitement, adventure and unusual activity.

The way that I define Thrift Shop Glam:

Going to your favorite Thrift store, craigslist, garage sales, and the curb and finding awesome and completely random junk. Taking it home and refinishing, refreshing, and repurposing it. Its an eclectic and eccentric mix of things that wouldn’t normally be put together. For example:

Normally you wouldnt see a chandelier with a sign that says “Please Drive Slowly and watch for Old Horses, Blind Dogs, and Unruly Kids  for the next 2 miles.” Ha ha I love that thing.

Its for those of us that like old worn out stuff that others would not even give a second glance.
Its distressed furniture that’s funky colors.
Its being unique and having things that no one else does.
Its putting something in your house BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT! Not worrying if it “goes” perfectly. (You can always paint it!)
Its spending more $ on the paint than the actual piece of furniture.

Its letting your creativity be the driving force.
Its chandy’s, baroque frames, strange figurines, old wood, and lots and lots of spray paint.

Its a hodge podge of junk that makes you happy!

So I am excited to introduce you to Vintage Revivals FIRST EVER Thrift Shop Glam feature!

Meet Adri from {Dream Book Designs}
