Loft Living Room & Entryway Makeover Reveal!

By Mandi 03/19/2015

I cant even begin to put into words how much I love this living room makeover. It has been a whirlwind few weeks to get this puppy done, but it was SO worth it!!

I sure hope that you guys have enjoyed this #100reveal series with GE reveal® Lighting and The Home Depot as much as I have! $100 and a little creativity can go a long way!

Lets just have a room refresher shall we?

I love showing these pictures. THIS my friends, is what our house looked like on the MLS listing.

Living Room Before

Awesome right?! I love looking at these pictures, it so perfectly attests to what massive transformations can be in store for your house if you just stop worrying at get started!

This is what the living room looked like 2+ years ago (you can see the room reveal here). I love so many things about it still, but when the orange couch kicked the bucket, I knew that it was time to make a change.

This is what the living room looked like when we started this series just a couple of weeks ago:

GE Reveal Light bulb-2

Cue sad trombone.

My inspiration for the space was an industrial-ish loft (because that is all I want in this world and lofts don’t exist in Southern Utah)

This is what it looks like now:

(So many pictures, click through to see them all!)

My fear with leaving the brick raw was that the space would be extremely dark, so adding big light elements (as well as multiple light sources) was critical. The modern dowel art and the light rug make a massive difference.

This room is pretty long, and the way that it is laid out puts the main area right in the center of the room. There is this left over space that is too small for another seating area but way too big to just do nothing with. I moved the desk from the wall next to the window to right smack dab in the middle of them and I am diggin it!

The copper plant shelves in the entryway are just to die for. Can you believe that I got every single one of those plants from The Home Depot!?

Loft Living Room Makeover vintagerevivals.com-24

We all love beautiful spaces, but one thing that was absolutely necessary for the entryway was complete functionality. The plexiglass calendar is so critical to our lives and hello about those cute wall pockets.

Obviously these letters are for pics, but I just have to announce that the 2nd one is addressed to a Mr. Tim Riggins because of course.

One of my favorite elements in the room are the family pictures . I love that they are so us, and not just giant smiling face portraits.

Can we just talk about the couch for a second? I am 1000% sure that it turned out even better than I could have ever imagined. This is the actual couch of my dreams.

Do you remember what it looked like before with that horrible vinyl?

All of the black and white cactus prints will be available in the shop shortly. We added a few quick swipes of water color to liven them up just a bit.

I LOVE this room. It turned out exactly like I was hoping. Doesn’t it feel so loft-like?!

Creating a whole new room is so fun, but before you start tearing stuff apart, first try switching out your light bulbs. Check out the difference between regular bulbs and GE reveal® light bulbs.

I am telling you guys, using reveal light bulbs are like instant Photoshop for your house. Without the reveal® bulbs there is not a chance I would take a picture in the dead of night and post it on the blog. But seriously, look at how good it looks! Reveal® bulbs make things look the way that they are meant to. Whites are white (and not dingy yellow) colors pop and patterns and textures are more pronounced.

I didn’t want this last video to get lost in the pictures, so I am posting it down here too. Court is SUCH a sport. I don’t know why he goes along with these hair-brained schemes but man am I glad he does!!

You can see all of the projects from this series here! There are SO many projects still to post, watch for the sources post next!

We have one more giveaway for (10) $100 Home Depot gift cards and GE reveal LED light bulb kits! All you have to do is comment below! No qualifier, just a comment!

  2. Mandi! You are INCREDIBLE. This space is so insanely cool it should be illegal. You are so inspiring and you taste is spot on. Keep up the good work, you’re a star!

  3. I am soooooo in love with the brick! I’m glad you kept it original! I’m excited to start switching out our lightbulbs to the reveal ones!

  4. Wow……just wow! I want to go to the city now and live a life of carefree, coffee sipping, artistic wandering days with multiple stops at a street market or vintage store. But at last there is a countryside with great green trees and nature surrounding me in reality. Life is great either way 🙂

  5. I love how it turned out! I was a little skeptical when I first saw the brick, but I like that you kept the brick to two walls. Did you re-do the couch yourself? It looks soo much better and really comfy!

  6. Great job! I absolutely love the soft Southwest look to the room. I’m sure to use several of your ideas for our house decor, especially the copper shelves. 🙂

  7. I’m dying to know more about the sofa transformation and what you did with the other sofa option.

  8. Mandi, this is amazing! I have been refreshing your page all day, waiting for this post. You are so inspiring!

  9. It looks amazing! you have an open invitation to come do my house in California 😉 no really though. The couch looks so much better. Reupholstered?

  10. The living room looks amazing! I am stealing like 99% of the ideas in this room for my own!

  11. I love the room reveal! Definitely feels like a downtown loft. If I was there, I would expect a skyline view when looking out the windows.

  12. MANDI! This is phenomenal. I can’t tell you how this has inspired me. So many of us look at amazing pictures and think, “Well I could never do that because my house is just a dumpy track home”, but you’ve proved how creative any space an be. You’ve also shown me that I don’t have to be afraid to start something new because I don’t have to make it last for eternity; change is good. Well done!

  13. I love the concept of forgetting about your home’s future family and just doing what you love!

  14. I love your square dowel art. I think I am going to copy it, but use reverese colors. I’ll send you a pic when it’s done. 🙂

  15. ohmyfreakingheck. My jaw dropped and I gasped a few times while looking at the reveal pictures. This room is killer! Can we talk about that couch?! I must say that I wasn’t a fan of the original black vinyl and couldn’t see past it, but now…WOW! It’s totally amazing! This room is simply beautiful, chic, amazeballs and brilliant. Well done, Mandi. Well done.

  16. Love those copper shelves!!!!!!! Amazing! I love that you are not afraid of any idea you get even if it seems crazy at first. It always turns out beautifully.

  17. OMG!! Seriously get out! You are amazing! I am always so blown away by your work, so talented! I love the risks that you take- and it helps that it always turns out amazing! Love Love Love!

  18. Just amazing! Love everything about this space!! Great job you guys! My favorite thing about this space are those gorgeous copper plant shelves. I mean, wow. Those are what dreams are made of! Can’t wait for the tutorial for those beauties.

Again, amazing job to you all!

  19. I love the new room! Now, what did you do with your old stuff, like that geometric light fixture? I NEED some of your cast offs 🙂 seriously though…..

  20. OHHHH my-LANTA! That is pure amazement! If you ever want to come to Nashville…..please help me with my bedroom. It is a massive 20×15, that I have no idea what to do with. It has SO much dead space! God Bless and keep up the creative MOJO, Sista!

  21. This whole series came at the most perfect time ever. we just bricked our living room too! although the styling isn’t anywhere near done we finished flooring, wall treatments and baseboards last night!

  22. Mandy. You did it again. At first I was a little nervous to see you get rid of the floating industrial shelves and the paint-pen wall…but it looks freaking awesome. Definitely my favorite elements are: the couch (amazing!!!!), the family art portraits (how and where did you get those printed?), and the chandelier and copper shelves. I also love the cactus prints too. Where did you end up putting the ‘Love’ string art in your home? Also, those light-bulbs definitely make a difference- you made me a believer! Way to go on another awesome room makeover!!!!

  23. Wow. You nailed the loft look… if only I could do this in my rental (and pretend I was renting an awesome loft instead of a beige-walled condo!)

  24. Can I ask who this other girl is that’s helping you out? I’m sure you’ve talked about it before but I’m interested to know about her and her tastes and such! I loved this whole thing and wish I could make plants live long enough to justify decorating a whole space with some!

    1. I was also wondering how you hung the other things on the brick like those family pictures?

  25. I love love love how welcoming your entryway is. I am definitely going to brighten up my house with some live plants. I never thought to put them near the front door, when you first walk in. Thanks for the great tips!

  26. This is incredible! The couch, the lighting fixtures, the natural brick, the plants/shelves in the hall! 🙂 Wonderful job Mandi! Can I also ask who does your video? Do you do it yourself? If so, I would love if did a tutorial on how the whole video process works some day. Video is such a great medium, but seems so scary, haha! Seriously, I LOVE how this room turned out!!

  27. I have been so eager to this room completed with the brick wall. But I am absolutely in LOVE with the dowel art. I really hope to do it in my next place!

  28. that’s a really impressive makeover, I am very impressed. I love the family pictures above the desk, it’s really cool !

  29. Amazing! One of my fave parts of the room is the family photos! Where do you print the panoramic size? Love!

  30. I love the brick!!! I tried to suggest that idea to my husband but he didn’t really like the price too much… maybe he’ll come around to the idea eventually. I also LOVE your couch! I have been wanting to get into upholstering lately, I have a few pieces that could use some revamping. I love your blog and all your projects! Can’t wait to see what’s next!

  31. Amazing! You have a great eye to be able to turn a pretty humble room into something so spectacular!

  32. Love love love it! I have always loved everything you do! I’m tempted to come stalk you while I’m in St geezy this weekend so I can get an up close with the space 😉 Dang it… Now I want to go and buy a house and decorate the crap out of it.

  33. I’ve been so excited for this reveal post, and it did not disappoint! I love it all! Thanks for sharing your talent! PS. I just did the sharpie paint pen design on my bedroom wall and I love it!

  34. Wow you guys are very impressive! I love that you totally made it “you”..not a cookie cutter house for sure!

  35. This series is so awesome! I love the loft look and cannot believe the brick was able to make for such an awesome transformation 😀 It looks amazing!

  36. I absolutely love the brick and have been wanting to do a brick wall for so long. Now I will do it very soon. The couch is gorgeous, the shape, color and I love that you changed out the legs. Sensational job on your new living room – enjoy it!

  37. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! You did an amazing job…as usual!!! Love your “new” couch by the way! Love it all!!

  38. Your projects are always inspirational. I hope there will be tutorials coming soon 🙂

  39. I don’t know if you will read this far down in the comments, but your space just explodes with creativity. It’s so electric and inspiring, Mandi…thank you!!

  40. So glad tou left the brick natural! Be sure to let hubby have a break for awhile. Congratulations on it all turning out so perfectly.

  41. First off, is Jazzercise a thing again?!?!? Second, beautiful transformation, eclectic yet everything harmonizes so well together. Love your stacked family pictures and the library catalog.

  42. i super duper love your panoramic family portraits! such an awesome way to hang them too! the new look in your space is fantastic!

  43. You are my DIY hero! Way to do what you love, it’s so inspiring. Your husband sounds so much like mine, “or she’d never leave me alone.” Haha! They know they love the afters too! 😉 congrats on the accomplishment!

  44. Wow! That room is awesome! So many wonderful textures and I super love the southwest vibe. So, will there be a lot of tutorials coming up on other aspects of this room? So excited, well done, well done!

  45. I am so amazed by you. This is beautiful and also livable. You push me to keep going on my projects even if I feel like throwing it all out the window. Thank you for sharing your designs and journey!

  46. Well… it’s gorgeous! I really wasn’t sure about this one AT ALL. But, as usual, everything you touch turns to gold! It’s incredible! Well done!

  47. I love the first makeover and was sad that you were doing another… but guess what? Yep, I love the second one too! I tend to start a makeover project and take so long (usually due to fundage) that I start switching gears before I have completed… meaning I never have a “finished” product. I wish you could come finish them for me!

  48. This is the first time I’ve read your blog and I already know I’m going to be a full-time follower! I used to live in a loft with exposed brick walls and I LOVED it. I miss it so much… And btw, I dig the couch!

  49. Your living room looks great! Now there is officially one loft space in southern Utah;)

  50. Mandi! Great job so many great pieces. The coffee table with the white legs was that project or a great thrift find,

  51. Excellent work! And your husband cracks me up! I feel like our husbands would get along really well. 🙂

Congrats, lady. Your hard work and ingenuity always blow me away. I knew that changing the legs of that couch would make it a game changer, and the new upholstery is great!

  52. Love that your rooms are eclectic and off-beat, not cookie cutter with the latest, boring design trends. So creative and looks like a space of someone who gathered things they love over time. Great makeover!

  53. I must have missed the couch post. I need to find out how in the world you saved that vinyl thing!!

  54. I can’t even believe those are the same three rooms! I don’t think I could ever come up with something that good. Anyway, what an amazing transformation!

  55. I love this! I wish we were home owners and that I could brick one of my walls!! One day… one day! You are amazing!

  56. Love the plant wall and all the newness! I’m digging the brick but my heart still loves the white walls so much!

  57. I love the transformation! And who would have guessed what a difference light bulbs could make?!

  58. I love your fearless, ever changing style!!! If I didn’t know any differently, I would think that really was a loft! Nice work!

  59. Love the room! I wish we were friends so I could see it in person she I visit my in-laws in s couple of months:)

  60. Nice makeover!! The bricks aren’t my style (I’m more white & light myself) but the vibe is way cool!!! I love, love, love your entry (the light fixture, shelves, dresser, etc)…and I think the little desk area with your family photos above is brilliant! Excellent job…enjoy your new space! I’m jealous of a done space…we have much to do at our house!!! (Oh, and excellent choice with the couch! Beautiful!)

  61. The makeover is looking great! I am loving that you took a #100reveal sponser and turned it into a full blown redo. Your husband is a great sport and you must be a ball of energy and creativity!

  62. The room looks fabulous! I will have to try the reveal bulbs in my front room. There is no overhead lighting and it tends to be dark and dreary. Thanks for the awesome tips!

  63. Looks incredible! Loved it before but WOW.. What an awesome transformation! Very inspiring. Love your style.

  64. I am BLOWN away! This is amazing!! The entire space looks so refreshing. I am thinking you don’t own cats, because those plants wouldn’t last a second in my home. Are you going to do a tutorial on the copper shelves?

  65. looks so amazing. loving all the greenery, and pillows! I need more indoor plants in my life!

  66. Wow! I love it! What a way to create an entirely different house almost. I can’t wait for the cactus pictures to be in the shop, I was admiring them before you even said that!

  67. Everything turned out so great! Did I miss the post about the couch?! It looks so much better than before!

  68. Oh, I love your stuff so much!!! I am always inspired by your vision and your ability to see beyond the “norm.” Every time I show my husband your stuff he gets just as revved up about it as I do! “Let’s do it!!” he says. =)

  69. WOW! There are so many ideas here I would love to try …and you make them seem very achievable. Love the brick wall! Love love love the plants on the beautiful shelves. Love the plexiglass reminder board! The lighting really makes a difference too. Wonderful!!

  70. Everything about this room is so beautifully crafted and put together! You have an incredible eye! Thank you so much for sharing and giving me some much needed inspiration ❤️❤️

  71. I wish we owned the house we live in so I could get super creative. right now paint is the most creative I can get…
    love everything.
    kay

  72. WOW! what a difference! & i am so glad you posted pics of the before and after of the difference between regular bulbs and GE reveal® light bulbs. it really does show quite a bit of difference!

  73. I love that you changed out the legs on the couch too. I’m all about mid-century furniture. Love the GE Reveal bulbs too!

  74. You are flippin’ (Yes, I’m from Utah) dynamite! I have never been so inspired by a makeover (sometimes, they become makeunders). The way this room has evolved is pure genius. Congrats, you so deserve it. #100reveal (because, winning).

  75. We’re in the middle of a basement remodel and I just keep asking myself what YOU would do!

  76. Wow! I wasn’t sure when you started the whole brick thing… but it really does look like a loft. The brick and wood floors are gorgeous together.

  77. This is really great. I liked the room before, and I like the room now and I wish I had the motivation to finish so many projects in my home!

  78. OMG THIS ROOM!!, I must have scrolled up and down about 20 times. THIS ROOM has so much character and energy..and every little vignette is amazing. I really miss your love string art, why didn’t you keep it in this room? It’s crazy but I actually think the new room is brighter than your old one. NOW PLEASE REST yourself, this room must have been exhausting.

  79. I adore this room- so many great elements. Also, SO jealous of your chesterfield steal! I almost cried…

  80. LOVE IT! I need you to come help me pull off the vision for my home! Or, I just need to borrow some of your energy for a week or two! 😉 Great space!

  81. I love this style, tons of plants, white, little bits of color and pattern. I have to ask, where did you get that gorgeous desk? I have been looking for one like that for ages!

  82. Insanely good!! Everything works so well. How do you even come up with some of this stuff?! That couch is amazing. Love it.

  83. Amazing transformation! Well done. You have an incredible eye for design. Always looking forward to your future endeavors. Congrats!

  84. The room looks really great! It has a sort of vintage loft vibe which is kind of different from a more industrial loft. You invented a new room genre!

  85. Turned Out amazing!!! I love the whole thing. I need to use that wall pocket idea in my entryway for dumping odds and ends as we get home.

  86. Great job and thanks for showing more angles of the room (ie toward the front door), it helps get a sense of the space. Also, Court never said if he likes it or not, I hope he does!

  87. Mandi, truly inspiring. Just makes me want to redo, redo, redo! I love it all, the sofa, the plywood design wall art…and that GINORMOUS CACTUS. Where. Did. You. Find. That!?!? Keep it up Mandi, I love your everything!

  88. LOVE everything about this!!! So doing the brick when I am in a house someday!! The light is amazing, too- I had no idea it made such a difference!

  89. I love that you go with your gut and not about resell value. I’m going to go crazy when I have my own house 🙂

  90. Maaaaaaaannnnnndddddyyyyy why are you so freakin cool? I am in LOVE with this room. Please move in with me and re-do my casa. I’m close to the ocean and can provide SoCal’s best burritos.

  91. “You’re insane! Well, I might as well do it because she won’t leave me alone otherwise.” Yup, yup, yup! That’s how it works here as well. 🙂 Great job all around! The space is 100% transformed and you did an amazing job.

  92. Wow! This is amazing! Your first makeover was great already but this one manages to top it. It does not look anything like the original. Fantastic job!

  93. Hi Mandi! I love your new living room! I was wondering where you got the white frames with the cacti prints (which I love and am going to buy when they’re in your store!)? Thanks!

  94. You are such an inspiration! We just bought a home and it has so much potential! I’m constantly looking at your blog for ideas! I secretly wish you could just take a look at our Newberg oregon home and give me some tips! Hehe but following your blog will have to do! You’re the best!
    -kels

  95. Wow! Words cannot describe how amazing this is! It is like the room of my dreams..Maybe someday I’ll convince the hubbs to do brick somewhere in the house! Great job!

  96. Love the brick and couch transformation. Surprised by how much I like the copper shelves. Thanks!

  97. WOW! I can’t even believe those very first pictures of long ago. Now THAT is a big transformation! I’m living in an apartment right now, but hoping to score that gift card to do a DIY coffee table or maybe nightstands! 🙂

  98. I love how you made cacti so cool! I want to go to the store right now and buy more for my house!

  99. I have always loved brick walls. So glad to see the actual unpainted colors of the brick!!!
    You did an amazing job.

  100. Love the brick – pondering the possibilities for my son’s room! Thanks for all the inspiration.

  101. I love it! You did such an amazing job! You really are very talented, I wish I had the guts to do exactly what I want. I feel like I play it safe!

  102. I’m sure my comment will get lost in the sea of contest entries, but I wanted to tell you that you embodied my soul animal in this space. I’m actually pretty stoked you did this because there’s so much I can take away for my own style. Also, so glad you chose that couch! I probably would’ve cried if you hadnt

  103. I have to tell you – you succeeded. This is so lofty I can’t tell you girl! lol However, that couch is just too damn much. I am so jealous. I mean, that looks like the impossible dream it is so gorgeous! Way to go. Good job.

  104. Y’all are amazing!! the brick is the obv star of the show, but honestly, it is aaaallllllllllll just SO. STINKIN. GOOD. it doesn’t look dark or drab from here at all…My favorite element is the square dowel geometric art piece (I think?) Are the rugs sewn together smaller rugs? WHERE do you find all the fabulous textiles??? amazing! I’m LOVING the videos too!!! you rock.

  105. I absolutely love those brick walls! Your decor totally inspires me! Can’t wait to see more projects…

  106. You really did it this time!!! It is GORGEOUS!!! This post had me think back to when I first began following your blog. It was in 2011 after being laid off from my job that I began watching the Nate Berkus show. It was there I was introduced to you and the world of blogging. I knew nothing of it but I remember seeing you on the House Proud segment where we got an opportunity to see your living room and bedroom. I was completely floored and then Nate spoke about your blog site and I ran to the desk to write it down. I am completely in awe of the work you’ve done since in this room and others within your home and outside of it. I enjoy reading your posts and I really get a sense that you want us to think outside the box and enjoy our homes, so Thank you!!! Your style is fearless and I pray I can be the same when it comes to decorating my home.

  107. Amazing!! I love the living room. You have totally transformed it. I can’t believe how fast it all went up. Love the plants in the front foyer.

  108. This looks great!!! I really have to agree with you on the awesomeness of those light bulbs. I hate the dingy yellow that some bulbs give off, but I also don’t care for overly bright white. The GE bulbs look like a nice in-between. Awesome placement of all of the interesting art too! You’re so talented!

  109. Absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to hear more about the sofa, the dowel art, and copper shelves!

  110. seriously this looks so good mandi! you’re so creative in a way that all the amazing details add up to a very unique and up to date whole. I feel like it’s so hard to do that sometimes (and I’m an interior designer)! and just wow about your taste in furniture. I hope i can get some projects going and get a place looking as good as yours sooner than later. <3 Jaimie N.

  111. Definitely get the loft vibe. Love the brick, copper shelves, bent arm chand. and couch, all of it, AMAZING!

  112. Wow, your style is so unique I could spot it anywhere. Well done! Ever think about adding another sofa or two chairs where the desk is in front of the windows? I love copper covered anything. Did you make those shelves with flashing? You need to write a book. Really!

  113. The room came together perfectly. So very cool. I so wish I had your vision for creating my living room!

  114. I just discovered your blog and I think I read the entire thing this past weekend! This is seriously amazing!! I think I am going to purchase these bulbs soon and I love all the light in the room. You do awesome stuff Mandi 🙂

  115. Love, love, love! Seriously my dream room. Now to figure out how to incorporate into my own space. ❤️❤️❤️

  116. Wow! Jaw dropping!!! You go girl!
My husband and I just bought our first home two weeks ago and now we need all new light bulbs. And all the money we can get to shop at Home Depot. 🙂

  117. Very inspirational & LOVE those brick walls! We are getting ready to purchase a home after renting for what seems to be a lifetime….love the look of this space, even though I also loved it before. And especially loving the contrast between those lovely MLS pics of the house when you looked at it 🙂 WOW!

  118. oh my goodness i love it! I’m currently looking at lofts in my apartment search. they are soo expensive! but probably most definitely worth it 😉

  119. Woah! Totally rad!!! I love your space… I’m saving this blog article as inspiration for my room redo if you don’t mind 🙂 #100reveal

  120. love the brick! I’m wondering where I could get away with doing that in my house now, maybe the bedroom… anyway amazing job as always!!!

  121. If I didn’t already know where you lived, I would totally think you were in some super cool loft apartment in New York somewhere! Great job on the room! I looooove your family photos! You are super talented girl!

  122. Love it! From the loft-like feel to the cactus decor! You are awesome and my inspiration!

  123. I’m speechless! I love every inch of this space! Mandy, your talent and creativity never cease to amaze me!

  124. Let’s just talk for a second about how awesome this turned out!! Ahh! I love everything about it. Feel free to stop by my house and tell me what to do! Can’t wait for tutorials on that dowel art thing and the cooper shelves!!

  125. I think you are one of the most talented or I should say gifted people ever. Love everything you do.

  126. Wow! I didn’t think that I would like it, but I 100% love it! Looks great, and it’s the most perfect loft in a desert that I’ve ever seen! We’re looking into buying a blah tract home, so here’s my question for you: Is it weird (no idea what the outside of your house looks like) having a “normal” or “blah” or “generic” house on the outside and an awesome house on the inside? I mean, looking at this space makes me feel like all is not lost if I have to succumb to some sort of 1990’s blah.

  127. pick me, please!!! also, i’d love to know the source for the coffee table – however, knowing your level of awesomeness, you probably built it yourself…??

  128. oh my goodness amazing!! my favorite part is your family photos! best decor ever!

  129. Mandi, this is just BEYOND. I love the risks you take, but this one tops the cake. Need to get me some brick and mortar pronto.

  130. Very nice! Sooooo happy that you picked the couch I was rooting for. Am I the only one left in the world that likes the warm glow of the traditional light bulb? I find the whiter lighting too much like fluorescent lighting–too cold-looking

  131. This is perfect! I can’t wait for all the deets 🙂 Oh, and that couch is killin’ me smalls! Seriously, I need it in my life.

  132. Everything is Gorgeous! Oh, Mandi…breathtaking, rad, love it. Thank you! Kiss your husband and tell him thanks, too! I love this inspiring room so much!

  133. WOW! It turned out so beautiful! I agree the Reveal bulbs are money! I’ve only replaced one light so far but it makes a HUGE difference.

  134. The room looks great! I’m absolutely obsessed with the card catalog. Can I ask what you actually keep in it? I would love to have one in my home, but I struggle with thinking up what I would actually store there… And it’s crazy how many awesome plants the Home Depot has these days! Every time I go there it’s nearly impossible for me to resist impulse purchasing a leafy new friend. Also, your brick wall transformation has totally given me an idea for a spot in the new home my boyfriend and I will (hopefully) be purchasing this week! Thanks for the inspiration!

  135. I love the plants! I’m slowly building back up my houseplants. They add so much to a hime.

  136. Wow. I cannot believe you came up with all of that and did it in a week. Such a fun room!

  137. I love your new living area! I love your fearlessness and unusual ideas that culminate to create amazing spaces! Thanks for the inspiration!

  138. I love every change you have made in your living room, but this is amazing. I did love the bike painting in your entry–what will you do with it? You have endless creativity and I love seeing what you come up with!

  139. What a fabulous sense of style you have. I love before’s & after’s, and the worse a place looks in the beginning, the bigger the wow factor in the end. I’m glad you could see the potential of your home when you found it in all it’s former glory. 🙂 I love the unique pieces like the plexiglass board and the ‘Hi’ art piece. I would have never guess that the GE Revel bulbs could make a room so much brighter. I’ll be buying those next time I head to Home Depot (which is more than once a week). Thanks for letting me enter your giveaway Mandi. Have a great weekend!

  140. Your room looks gorgeous!! At first when you said you were bricking in the wall I wasn’t sure, but watching the whole process it makes me want to do it to my living room. Now I feel liberated to take risks and tackle my fixer-upper home! Thank-you! And that couch is to die for!

  141. THIS is why it is so important to step out of your comfort zone. You’ve knocked it out of the park, Mandi!

  142. I am in complete awwwww! This is so magazine worthy, and inspires me to take some risks in my own home.

  143. I am so excited to steal all of your ideas!! Everything looks amazing; can’t wait for more tutorials.

  144. What a beautiful room! Question for you, I noticed a large piece of bicycle art in your entryway(?), did you create it or purchase it somewhere?? I LOVE it!

  145. I LOVE the space. It does seem like the library card catalogue and the desk should be switched. I absolutely love the family photos above the desk, the lighting, the Shadow Art sign in the entry, the plants, copper shelving! Its all so amazing!

  146. I can’t believe that is the same space! You are so bold and do exactly what suits you and your family without fear! Very inspiring 🙂

  147. This is the most amazing thing you have ever done! Fully realized without a hint of “decorator” predictability!

  148. The room looks beautiful! What a transformation, I wish I could find pieces like you do! I will be looking for those light bulbs, because, what a difference they make!

  149. Wow, you’ve recreated a fantastic Loft with no elevator!! Amazing and well done job!

  150. Love the room reveal! Can’t wait for the project tutorials! I’m currently trying to reno the house we bought several months ago and I love all the ideas and inspiration I get from Vintage Revivals!

  151. WOAH! i just adore it… it is an excellent reimagined lofty-loft! 🙂
i would be super happy in that atmosphere! fantastic job.

  152. Mandy!-
It’s amazing!!! Oh my. I’ve loved lofts forever but I love them even more now.
I’m wondering if we could have a peek of your dining room and kitchen too?
    Thanks for sharing. Great job!

  153. Both the before and after are beautiful but the after is really inspiring! I love all of your ideas and especially love the brick walls. I have always wanted to do that!! My livingroom walls are painted black right now so some GE reveal lightbulbs would probably work wonders for me! I have to say that I got the most amazing succulent plant at Home Depot and a year later it has grown so much and has to be my favorite! I would love to get back there for more plants!! Thank you so much for sharing your visions with us!

  154. Mandi, YOU ARE SO THE MASTER! Wowzah! I love everything about this! Love the entryway as well. I’m doing a home makeover right now, too, and was thinking about what types of plants I needed to fill certain spots. So happy to see all of yours and know they can be found at HD. Cool! I’d be honored if you visited my blog!

  155. Your style does not match mine, but I LOVE seeing all your projects. I’ve turned my daughters on to you – whose styles are more similar to yours. Keep up all the good work!

  156. Oh Mandi… You rocked this. You owned it. You knocked it out of the park! THANK YOU for being a risk-taker and demonstrating just how incredible following your own vision (and not some imagined future home-buyer) in decorating can be!

  157. Wow. This is stunning. Seriously need to get moving on my living room!! I love every single thing you guys did. The brick, the couch, the light, the art, the family photos… Just wow! Nice work!!!

  158. So good. So so so very good. My living room is gutted for new insulation and drywall (it’s been paneled walls since we bought the house two years ago) and this is like a GE reveal light at then end of the tunnel hahaha 🙂 you’re killin it girl.

  159. Oh my gosh! What a great space! Love the Hi. !!! And the family portraits, going to have to copy this!

  160. This is so loft-like, and I love it too! Everything about it, from the brick to the furniture to the lighting to the art on the walls….it’s just fabulous. Thanks for the eye candy.

  161. You are genius! Genius I say!! Love the transformation. Like a lot. Didn’t think your space could get better, boy was I wrong. Well done!

  162. I love how it turned out. I love brick walls. Too bad I live in Northern Utah. If I lived closer, I would come steal the blue drawer unit under the old bent arm chandelier. Are you using it somewhere else in your house?

  163. It looks amazing! I love how the couch turned out and I love everything about the entry!

  164. #100REVEAL

AWESOME AWESOME makeover! I love practically everything about it. Especially that bad a$$ light fixture/chandelier in the entryway and the brick veneered wall. I’ve wanted to do a brick veneer wall in our home for as long as I can remember…so you can bet your patootie I saved all of the posts you recently posted on that project to refer back to if it ever actually happens in our home.

    Great makeover lady! 🙂

  165. BEAUTIFUL home! I want to redo my home as well….but finding time is hard. This is great for inspiration though!

  166. I love at least 100 things in your new space but, if I’m going to be honest, the styled letter to Tim Riggins made me most excited! 😀 Your plant wall on those copper shelves are an amazing contrast. Your family photos, sizing/shape/composition are priceless. I loved your room before, so I was a bit hesitant when I saw you’d redone it…but I like it even more! Somehow?! You do great work Mandi!

  167. I LOVE you for going for what you want, even when it gets scary in the middle. I always freak out at that point and I’m just glad my hubby is the calm one through my vision! It looks awesome! Great work!

  168. Every time my kids tell me I change my house too much, I just pull up your blog
and say Mandi is crazier than me! But I absolutely love everything!!

  169. I swear that I found the single seater reclining version of your couch in the same color leather today. It’s in an antique mall in Virginia Beach. I saw it and immediately thought of your couch. It was so comfy. The room looks amazing by the way!

  170. Please maybe could you PLEASE make a file with the calendar font/lettering so that we can recreate it? So simple. Loving the loft!!

  171. Fairly new reader here, and can I just say that YOU ARE A ROCK STAR!!! I am continually amazed at your projects and how awesome they are! And I WILL make a light fixture… I will.

  172. Gorgeous beautiful loft- like space!!! Your best work yet!! Oh, and I love the Riggins letter!

  173. I love this so much! I can tell some of the art and cactus is soithwest-inspired. Hoping I can theift some similar items here in Albuquerque!

  174. Hello! Beautiful! Love the texture of the brick! I kind of want to do a loft-inspired bathroom with the cute big male/female icons on the door. Oh, lovely!

  175. good LORD! I love it all. What a transformation! I love the different textures and prints and oh, the layers! WELL done!

  176. I do love the transformation! it was beautiful and the lighting for GE really lightens the place!! I love all the different pieces that were put in the loft!! they all pulled the room together!

  177. There are so many great elements in this makeover, and it feels relaxed, cohesive, warm, but also lively.
I want the rugs, the cactus prints, and the brick walls. I also have a date with DIYing the plexi calendar.

  178. Crazy-amazing! I’m speechless at how talented you are. Thanks for sharing! Do you give little free advice on how to decorate our own home if we show a picture? Hehe!

  179. Amazing transformation Mandi! And that couch……it’s everything. Everything. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! This series has been fun and I am definitely sold on GE Reveal for sure!

  180. WOW! This space just got brighter and brighter! I love the brick color, the couch, the paintings… the list goes on and on! Thank you for showing us your talents and hopefully your tips & tricks will help me transform my home into something amazing. You are such an inspiration! xx

  181. OMG!!! I LOVE this!!! It’s amazing how the same room can look so different. I have to say you achieved that loft look spot on! Love the tip about the GE Reveal lights……I find my living room so dark….going to go and stock up on these new babies!!

  182. Wow! Those copper shelves are rad! My wheels are turning thinking of all the things I could use to “wrap” my shelves in awesomeness!

  183. Love the loft! And I can’t believe the different the GE light bulbs make…that’s amazing.

  184. LOVE! Congrats on finishing, I know that is the best feeling. Now you can sit back and enjoy all your hard work. Until you start another project 🙂

  185. Love that you kept the dark brick! And I love the family pictures too – they look great.

  186. I love, love, love the new sofa! That one definitely falls under the ‘cold dead fingers’ category! Everything turned out really great, but would you consider a larger rug for the sofa area? The one you have is lovely, just way too small for the space 🙂

  187. Love how the whole room turned out.
Side note, Still chuckle at your “green leaf growing from your head” on the video. :)))

  188. Totally in love with this reveal! The dowel art is so ridiculously amazing, I can’t wait to make one of my own.

  189. Ive been considering exposing some brick in the living room but was nervous about it – but you’ve inspired me! I’m going to go for it.

  190. absolutely love it! I have a very unique all glass room I am trying to repurpose! This gives me hope!

  191. Loved the before but that After? Stunning! Love it! It reminds me of what the apartment on Friends would look like decades later =)

  192. Absolutely inspiring! So many fresh and new ideas. Thank you for sharing. I plan on using some of these ideas in our space.

  193. Your house looks so amazing!!! I’m totally in love, and adore the brick wall!

  194. I so admire your talents! You have these visions and then are able to carry them out beautifully. Absolutely love your “loft” space!!

  195. When my dad built his new house, he did one wall in brick and he left a space empty in the middle of the wall. There he put my mom’s white shadow box. With the mirror and the white shadow box, it drew your eye up. Their living room was 27′ x 17′. I love what you have done.

  196. Love the brick! Greatest thing about home makeovers? There’s always the next project! Love to win the #100Reveal for my next one.

  197. I love all the plants in the room that liven it up! It makes me itch to do something to my house!

  198. Love the ‘before’ pics, and love the ‘after’ pics even more! Where are the copper shelves from?

  199. Every detail of this reveal is a DREAM. That brick is brilliant. Those copper shelves make my heart flutter. The plants are friggin’ glorious. THE COUCH BEFORE AND AFTER. When can I move in?

  200. Your space looks bigger! I assumed the dark brick would feel small and “boxed in”, but it actually looks more open. Great job! So creative!!!

  201. I always love your projects! Your creativity and enthusiasm are so inspiring. Great job!

  202. I love all of this, all the green in the entryway, the shadow and dowel art… that couch! I was sad to see the orange one go, but this is better!

  203. I absolutely adore your makeover. Did you use real brick and mortar? I have always loved the coziness of a loft and would love a den with exposed brick. I love so many elements in the room. I’d love to know how you made your long thin family pics. And the copper shelves—-love!!! Thanks for sharing and the giveaway (I missed it ).

  204. Beautiful. I bet coming home is so fun now. I have hutch I’m planning to refinish. I think it ill make a huge difference in my décor.

  205. Wow, I LOVE this!!! I too have always dreamed of living in a loft and never in a million years would have thought to just put the brick in myself instead of waiting for the perfect exposed brick home to come along. It looks amazing and so light filled — great job and thank you for the inspiring ideas! :).

  206. Took notes for the brick wall…..thank God ! It will be so much easier now. YEAH!!! It’s awesome.
