Look What I Found Friday: Hoarders Edition

By Mandi 04/08/2011

Hey everyone!

I am so sorry about the linky disappearing last LWIFF. I sent an email to Linky Tools to see if I upgraded my subscription if it would restore it and never heard back. Anyway for some other reasons I have decided to go with inlinkz. So there will be no disappearing and junk.

If you need a refresher on what Look What I Found Friday is, here you go.

I show you crap that I have found. Then you are jealous. Then you can link up any of the following:

1. Junk you have found.

2 Crap you’ve made with Junk you have found.

3. Anything that you would lovingly consider Junk or Crap. Which is 100% of the projects that I have done….

So on with the Hoarders Edition!

This week I was lucky enough to meet up with a Vintage Revivals Super Fan. See Darcy (the VRSF) and I have a mutual friend who is amazing. Lisa called me to see if we could arrange a birthday surprise. Darcy took the bait hook line and sinker. She thought that on her way to her birthday lunch with Lisa they had to really quickly drop something off that Lisa had borrowed.

When I opened the door she was so surprised! I loved it. We did a real life tour of the house and then went to lunch and the OF COURSE thrifting. Darcy is just about the cutest girl that you will ever meet and is sooo talented.

So long story short I was just going to show you the treasures that I scored while thrifting with my lady friends. But then after I took the pics I was trying to find a place to put the junk. And I thought that you might enjoy what the life of a Thrift Store Goddess looks like.

I bought this lamp. The shade was one of those that looks like a huge twirling skirt. I immediately re-donated it. Oh and it was $7.00

And over the last month or so I have been stocking up on china so here is what I have gathered.

You may remember that Secret #3 from 10 Secrets From A Thrifting Goddess is “Don’t Be Afraid To Hoard.” Here a just a few shots of my “stashes”

Now please remember that all of these lamps are in addition to the ones that already have a home.

Oh and check this out. This is behind the scenes of my Crappy Crappy Credenza:

And we wont even start on my project/sewing room. Probably because I can’t open the door at the moment.

Alright your turn! Make sure you visit others links and leave comments cause you know we all love them.

  1. That’s quite an impressive stash… I think my hubby would have a heart attack if I attempted anything similar 😉 I’ve found some good stuff at the DI, but I don’t go nearly enough to make it a regular occurrence. I like to go early in the morning right after I drop my kids off at school, have you found that certain times of days yield better results?

  2. I never can find lamps like that in my neck of the woods. 🙁 Thanks for showing us your stash though – it makes me feel a little less sheepish about all that I’m hoarding.

  3. Ha, that’s awesome. My husband thinks I am a hoarder too. I have a thing for mirrors and lamps, and chairs. I found beautiful milk glass lamps that he wouldn’t let me purchase because he said I too many already. Darn him. I’d love to link up but don’t see the linky?

  4. I was starting to feel a little like a hoarder myself when I discovered that not only is it normal but completely MANDATORY to stash all your good finds until inspiration hits.

(I’m so glad you switched to linkz! I was never able to post to linky.)

  5. Thanks for letting me link up my awesome armchair. After the shock of finding it wore off, all I could think was, I can’t wait to show this to Mandi!
BTW, I have that square lampshade on the gold lamp.

  6. Hi Mandi LOVE LOVE LOVE the finds mostly the first lamp photos
I now see things more clearly when I am on the lookout for cool find’s.
    Thank you.
I am starting to create a work/craft room in the basement Helping DH clear out some things a quarter of which goes straight to MY work room LOL.

  7. I love your hoard, especially the glass/porcelain lamp with the intricate metal base. I just found a beauty, similar, but it is blue glass. I love it. I will have to show that project another time.

Your lamps inspired me to post to my first link parties today. I do everything I can from my Blackberry and the inlinkz made it so easy to post my links. Linksys gave me quite a bit more trouble, so I am happy with your choice. I haven’t yet mastered blog posting on my BB yet, so I hope it’s ok that I linked to my flickr account.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. right now, as I read… ManOfTheHouse is getting that twinge in the back of his neck that says “T is about to fill up the craft room with more stuff that will never get finished again”… living near D.I. has a downside 🙂
