You Are Not Going To Believe This.

Remember a few months ago I found this awesome dresser at the DI?

Drexel Parallel Mid Century Dresser

I bought it for $50 (down from $100) and because it was stamped on the back I googled it. And found it on Ebay for $900.

Well guess what.

Monday I was at the DI again and you are not going to believe what I found.

The highboy version of this dresser for $65.00.

I was in such a rush to get out of town that I didn’t snap a picture of it, but can you even believe that?

Love  You  Guts,  Mandi

  1. I’ve had some good luck lately with the items I’ve picked up. I got a buffet on CL that without the hutch goes for 200 but with the hutch goes for 600. I got it for 80 bucks. I also picked up a swivel naugahyde chair for 50 and it has went for 200-300 bucks online. Too bad the hubs broke it. 🙁

  2. Only YOU, Mandi the Craptastic Thrifinator, would have that kind of luck!! I don’t know how you do it. I swear you’re paying them under the table. 😉 Or maybe there are just more old people with awesome, cool, vintage furniture that they’re getting rid of in St. George. It’s like Florida, where they all flock to for retirement because of the warmer temps. Whatever, the reason, you seem to have awesome luck! Are you Irish? 😉

  3. I have a Drexel Triennale low boy/hi boy dresser that I JUST decided last night that I wasn’t going to restore. If anyone is interested, please feel free to email me.

  4. There is not a single thrift store in the state of Washington that would have even half the scores you find at the DI…Lucky Girl. We even have a DI and it is totally sketchy. I am always impressed what you find and it keeps me inspired to keep searching.

  5. You seriously live in some parallel universe I’m convinced because I NEVER find cute stuff like that anywhere in Washington. Good find!!! Man you should play the lottery or something. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.

  6. Awesome!! Do not touch it! I love mid-century and vintage items (buy and sell a lot) Remember, antiques/vintage items are really only worth what someone is willing to pay so even though it is listed high, it really isn’t unless someone will buy it. If the market is strong (which it is in some areas)it will command that but in others it will be whatever the best offer is. It’s a great buy!

  7. I wish our DI had cool stuff like that. I think the one in Sandy is the worst one out there. Seriously. But I love your finds–and of course I love that you found out about how awesome that dresser is thanks to eBay. 😉

  8. Uh-Mazing!! Can you please send me some of your good shopping Ju-Ju? There has been no good furniture at any of my favorite places lately.

  9. Jealous!! I just moved and am still trying to get the hang of the new thrift stores. Hopefully I can start finding amazing things like this soon!
