The most important thing that a home blogger should have is a house tour. Did you know that I have never done one? I am SUCH a loser. But good news, my loser days are over. This week I (and 24 of my closest bloggy friends) are giving you full on house tours to kick off a fantastic summer of project list inspiration!!
So here is how this tour thing is going to work. I am going to link the main description to the reveal post, then underneath each image I will will link to the tutorials in the image, got it? Hopefully, cause here we go!
If you are new to Vintage Revivals and coming from my girl The Nester, I welcome you, if you are not, well then you know I already love your guts and you need to double back and check out her amazingly imperfect house. Here is a little back story about our house (because everyone loves those things right!?) We bought our house in September 2009, it was a short sale and to say it was well, tetanus shot inducing would be pretty dang accurate. Here are a few of the images from the MLS listing.
So if you are on the hunt for a home that is a little bit less than your ideal pinterest mansion, dont worry! You can change things to the point that they are almost unrecognizable and 100% you!!
So now is the fun part. What it looks like now, or at least for this second. What can I say, I love to improve and change things up constantly. In fact pulling this house tour together has given me THE itch.
Lets start outdoors, shall we? Our house is like 80% of the houses in Southern Utah, builder basic, tan stucco, one level. Mark my words, one day I am building a house that will turn St. George on its beige head. Last summer Court and I built the Chevron Shutters and they are holding up FANTASTICALLY. I love that they add so much to the house (you wouldn’t thing it would change it that much, but it totally does. So add shutters to your project list.)
I just showed off my newly summer-fied back patio last week, and I still love it, even though most of the plants are now DEAD. (that is what happens when you decide to stay in Salt Lake for an extra week…its a good thing the plants were the only casualty.)
Watercolor Tiki Art / Tiki Torch Update
My entryway was one of the first projects that I finished that I felt like was finally my style, no piggybacking things I had seen on other blogs, only me 100%.
Herringbone Ceiling / Purple Chandelier /
I am so in love with my Living Room I hear angels every time I walk into it. This is actually the second makeover that this room has had in the short history of Vintage Revivals. You can see the first one here.
LOVE String Art / Sharpie Wallpaper / Thrift Store Art / Map / Mid Century Desk / Floating Shelves / Openwork Cube Light / Aztec Chevron Rug / Orange Couch / Black Window Trim
Mid Century Credenza / Card Catalog / Thrift Store Prints
Planked Wall / Framing Out A Doorway / Crewel Folk Art / Bowl Light
In the corner of the last picture you can see our eat in kitchen space with the famous black wall.
The mid century chairs are a craigslist score that I have plans to reupholster, the rug is from Rugs USA and the pipe table tutorial is here.
And this is what my Master bedroom used to look like…it is currently naked because I sold everything in it at the Hoard Sale.
Stenciled Wall / Compass Sisal Rug / Board and Batten / Chair Reupholstery
Mirrored Dresser /
I have 2 daughters with 2 very distinct personalities and 2 very different bedrooms.
First is Ivie. Ivie Lou is my favorite 10 year old on the planet.
Faux Bois Painted Concrete Floor / Triangle Wall / Butcher Block Upcycled Desk / Thrifted Dresser / Lantern Chandelier / Cuckoo Clock
Dylan is my youngest, and let me tell you her Room Makeover was a challenge. If you want to laugh click over and watch her video. I am in trouble.
Hexagon Wall / Ombre Painting / Tufted Picture Frame Headboard / Small Dresser Overhaul /
Cork Bulldog Mural / Love Your Guts Art / Copper Pipe Coat Rack
And sometimes I like to go to other peoples houses and redo a room for them…

I’m new here, but I LOVE your house! I’ll come back later to savor more of it 🙂
You definitely have great style.
I urge you to consider that the people who sold the house to you possibly read your blog. How shameful it must feel to them that not only did they lose their house, but their dirty carpets & decorating are being exposed and ridiculed as well. When you don’t have enough money to keep your house, you also don’t have enough money to clean the carpets & decorate.
THIS. something about the tone of this blog entry feels so middle-school bully to me so i appreciate your respectful comment.
Super great point ladies, thanks for the perspective!
Wow is all I can say!!
I love your house. You guys have done so much to it and totally Mandified it.
Wow! What a transformation. Such a gorgeous house!

Ladyface Blog
It’s homestoriesatoz.com, not homestoriesOFatoz.com. You might want to correct that so that the link works.
Got it fixed! Thanks!
Dude. You are like, the sister I created in my head (cause I only have brothers- snakes and snails, ugh!)I’ve been worshiping you from the beginning- FABULOUS!! Recently have moved from Atlanta to Sydney, Australia- if you evah come here, you must “drop me a line…..” yes? Am going to attempt to recreate your genius and do the honeycomb wall in hubby’s office. I mean, how else to incorporate green and orange in a sophisticated color scheme. Unless you want to come???? I think airfare from UT would be worth it- and you could add “INTERNATIONAL DESIGN GODDESS” to your resume?
xx

Such a great idea!! I will for sure let you know if I end up Down Under!
Love your style….so playful and sophisticated. You may be the coolest person I’ve ever met. So fun getting to know all of the gals on the home tour! Lisa~
I love your guts! Your home is so amazing, and I’m tickled orange that you joined the tour!
What I really love about your house aside from everything (obvi), is that it’s so layered and lived-in and so specifically YOU (I am presuming to know you because I read your blog?)
Once I move into a house, you can come over and get the itch there. You are welcome 🙂
I need to come to your home! I won’t though, because that is creepy. Love your style very refreshing compared to what I see all over the place. I have a sense of style like yours my husband is well safe, boring no paint the wood kind of guy. Good thing he has his garage to hide in when I start in on my DIY house makeover projects!
Timmi do you live in So. Utah?
I do not. We were thinking of moving there but found a great deal on a house right here in Nebraska so we are staying, but you can visit me any time and redecorate my house which I have to say is a bit worse than yours
I love your house! I also love vintage furniture, and lately I’ve been trying to make sure my house doesn’t feel too “old” because of all of it. You somehow pull off modern and cool at the same time. Love it!
I agree with the above statement completely! Really excited about the summer house tours too… awesome to see all of the different ideas and styles!!
Ohhhh girl, you know I’m lovin’ this tour! Vibrant, fun, gorgeous and flat out genius! Your wall treatments are to die for!
It is so great to experience your genius in one post! You are legit my dear.

I love that orange couch!!!
Oh this is just fabulous Mandi, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful style with us today!!

Crap You’re Awesome is right!!! You have a lovely home!
You have an awesome blog! I just saw your tutorial on the Compass Sisal Rug. Your instructions are very thorough, which I really appreciate (mathematically challenged)!
Love your style
this is exciting!!! i think we’ve finished the last leg of our insurance claim on a house fire we had in april. (exhausting and devastating). so we will get us a new home hopefully really soon. so i’m gathering ideas!!
How fabulous Mandi!! I typically decorate with mostly neutral tones, but your gorgeous use of color, is making me want to shake things up a bit around here!! Thanks for the tour!
Mandi your house is absolutely FABULOUS!! I can’t pick a favorite because I LOVE it all!!!
Mandi, you’re house is awesome! You are truly one of the most creatively talented people I wish I had met. You really need to do a room giveaway once a month so I have better chances of winning. Or when the next one comes around we can work a deal where I “just happen to win” and I will trade you something, like my next born or I’ll get you another puppy!
Love your unique and fun design. You have been published, haven’t you. If not you should be.
Fun, funky, functional ~ LOVE your unique details EVERYWHERE!!
Mandi – What a mind-blowing transformation from the before pictures to what your home looks like now. I adore your quirky, happy style. Beautiful!
xox
Lovely house now!! Greetings from sunny Madrid!
Podemos charlar juntas
Your home now is simply awesome. It’s so hard to believe the before pictures are the same space. Beautiful work!
Thanks for the tour Mandi – I love your home {sigh}, and you inspire me!
My daughter was browsing your house tour with me and died over the honeycomb wall…. You never cease to amaze me with your original designs… where did you get the inspiration for that wall?
Your house is one of the prettiest and happiest I’ve ever seen!
Enjoy it!
The bike painting in the entryway, the navy stenciled wall, the pipe table, the honeycomb wall were all epic for me. I love your brain and how you come up with these things!! xo
You already know I love it all, Mandi!!! (But I’ll say it again just because it is nice to hear, right?!) Thanks for the tour, sweet girl! xo
I love your home. you have such great personal style. That crap I’m awesome pillow is the best.pillow.ever.
HI Mandi-
I found you via the summer home tour, but when I got here I recognized your painted faux bois floor. Great tour! Your style is so fresh, uncluttered, and unique. Thank you for all the time it must have taken to link up to all your past projects, holy cow. You’re really gifted at explaining things. I’m pretty sure I’m going to steal your floating industrial shelves.
Also, your video of Dylan putting on makeup made me laugh harder than I’ve laughed in such a long time.
Mandi, I love what you’ve done with your house. The stenciling throughout is so interesting and unique – I especially love the bike! The entire house is a conversation piece – so cool! Thanks for the tour.
Hey! I totally thought I already left a comment but maybe I didn’t. I LOVE your home. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. So great to see it all in one place. Have an amazing day! ;}
That orange sofa is killer! Thanks for opening your home..
Stacy from https://pistolandpantry.com
It’s just so…. HAPPY! I love looking at homes that make you want to get up in the morning with a smile, look around and say, “ahhh, I love this place.” I’m so excited that you’ve found your gift and style and go full force with your ideas. I’ve been SO inspired watching your journey over the years and letting myself have more fun with decor. Great house tour, girl! 😉
Quadruple sigh – love your style and wit and whimsy! I need a hoard sale – so I can redo my entire house (first I need to find an evil twin to help me)!
Kelly
Your home looks happy and full of personality and not like everyone else’s.. I like it!!
Loved your house from top to bottom! You are one talented lady! ~M.

Have been reading you ever since Apt. Therapy’s Homies and love finally seeing the house tour! Question to make myself feel better…. are there rooms in your house that you have NOT tackled? The level of finish in these rooms is astounding! Thanks for sharing it all in one place!

Where are the kitchen pics? 🙂
You have such a fun home! You really have made it fun and interesting. I have to say I think your entryway is awesome!!! The ceiling, the turquoise cabinet and that plywood artwork. WOW!
I am really inspired by this blog. Great way of home decoration presented here. Blogger6
Hey Mandi…. I just found you last night and I luv luv luv your work! One thing I am working on right now is painting a mid century credenza for our family room. I saw the one you have in your entryway and I love it but what I REALLY love is the four piece tandem bike painting over yours!! Can you give me any hints about that piece.. DIY ?? or something else?? Thanks, JB
