Ok so I have decided to make LWIFF a bi monthly party, hope everyone is ok with that!
When I was at the DI (Utah’s version of Goodwill) on Wednesday, I was walking my route and I noticed they had a bunch of cool older couches and chairs, nothing I wanted to buy but still cool. So I am happily walking, my kid hasn’t started screaming or trying to climb out of the cart yet and then Ba- Bam there was this old guy that cut in front of me, he seriously had 6 toaster ovens in his cart, and he looks at me and yells “If I could move, I would…geez!” and then proceeds to mumble something under his breath. LOL seriously I hadn’t even had to stop pushing my cart when he said that. So I told him to have a nice day and turned up the couch isle. Then. My. World. Stopped.
If it wasn’t for that cute odd man that yelled at me I never would have found this:
And the matching couch (that I don’t have a pic of because it went directly to the storage unit for safe keeping)
My father in law said they looked like something out of the Addams Family. I cant wait to come up to SLC and go to Home Fabrics so I can reupholster them (chair first, then if I survive, the couch….one day.)
The chair was $15 and the couch was $55
I also scored this vintage silver and glass coffee carafe for $5.00
Oh my gah, that chair is ARGHIWANTITNOW. ahem, I really dig on it.
I think that’s the same exact chair my friend kristin has. But, her’s is upholstered in pink velvet. You can see it in some of these pictures…

Her house was used for an episode of Memphis Beat.
Gotta love grumpy old men….
Great projects so far…
Thanks for hosting…

LOL, a friend was just telling me about the big fight she watched at Goodwill, people sometimes! Ok that chair is to die for!!! Will you keep this for your house? I can only imagine it in from of one of your funky walls! Love Vicki by the way and the way she features is…. well just no words! You are one patient woman! Come check my blog out, I am decorating my nieces new house (lucky girl) but with LOTS of Goodwill finds. I wish we had your prices for furniture tho!
Oh, how I miss D.I.! The chair alone would have cost $80 at our Salvation Army. I don’t even bother looking at furniture there anymore because the prices are so ludicrous. Craigslist and “bulky item pick-up” trash days are my only hope for sweet finds… Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Aloha,
charlie
I am so digging the chair!! Great haul!! I am linking up..
Such a great chair! Must be “great chair week”. I too have found an amazing chair this week. Just posted about it yesterday as well.
Amazing…chair!!!! What a great deal for the chair and sofa. They are going to look fantastic redone. But I still cannot get over the price!
LOve love love, it! I am so glad you had a LWIFF! LOL. I have been waiting to show off my turq cabinet!
oops…. i did not read the last part about using a before pic as the link pic.
I found some fun stuff but nothing as great as the chair and sofa. That is fantastic. I never find anything like that at my D.I. I’m excited to see her made over.
Love the chair Mandi! I’m sure the couch is just as awesome!
Oh my goodness that is so yummy! Mandy – you are so lucky! I cannot wait to see what you come up with. That little thing is just screaming with fun details.
Pretty much in LOVE with that chair!!!! Why cant I ever find anything like that when I go to the DI???? I need furniture in my front room right now so bad! We just bought a house and have no furniture for that room yet….except the record player I played linky party with! LOL I’m SuPeR JeAlOuS!!!
Please please tell me are any of these items for sale, I love your stuff. I love it!!! I am so new to diy, that I have no clue where to even shop for stuff. I know you are capable of amazing things, but I am not so sure I am. My husband, though I love him dearly, is not so handy as your man.
Please teach me your ways, wise one, or sell them 🙂
@ Mtngirl
I have found that when I make things to sell it takes the fun out of it. So currently no I dont, if I ever want to sell anything I will post it here!
love your guts
mandi
Girl, you always find thee awesomest stuff! I need to go junkin’ with you. That chair is amazing.
Cool-a-rama! I love it & I can’t believe you know how to upholster too! Color me impressed.
Warmly, Michelle
Would you please stop bribing all the DI employees to hold the good stuff back for you?? I swear you must get there just before I do because I find all your rejects. Just for one day, please???
Cute chair! Can’t wait to see it when its reupholstered! I have two chairs that I’ve planned on reupholstering but I have no idea where to begin…any tips?
hi mandi! i am your newest stalker, er um devotee! thanks for the inspiration and frugal friday!
OMG! I was just looking through your blog all these years almost to the day after you put this one up and I have to tell you I have the EXACT same carafe! Ok, I broke mine on the top but otherwise it is the exact same one! I am in Australia! How the heck did I get the same carafe? I have no idea! Maybe yours swam the ocean and came to live with me? BTW I love you blog! Happy January!
