Renovating My Parents 36 Year Old Outdated Bathroom

By Mandi 11/08/2018

Oh my gosh I can’t believe that today is finally here!! Over the last month we’ve worked our tails off completely renovating my parents 36 year old bathroom. When I say 36 years old I mean, NOTHING has changed in 36 years.

Actually I take that back, I’m pretty sure that they changed the sink sometime around 1991, I have vague memories of it being white. But other than that, NOTHING. Everything had to go, from the blue marbled formica countertop, to the tub and surround. There was no point in updating it, unless we were updating ALL of it.

So where do you start on something that is a total gut job? I think one of the hardest things about a renovation is actually making a plan. Because my parents live out of town we wanted it to be as straightforward as possible because we would doing it in small weekend chunks. Over the course of 3 weeks, we turned this outdated room into something magical!!

  1. So fantastic! Can you link the sconces please and the paint color name/brand too. Many thanks!

  2. WOW – I love it all!
I love that the big box stores have such nice “stuff” these days.

  3. Can’t stop laughing at his dance at the end 😉

You guys even match the black n white bathroom.

Seriously?!? When will HGTV or SOMEBODY give you guys a tv show?!? WHEN?

You have so much love and respect for each other that I literally can feel it thru the screen. I love and appreciate that so much.

  4. Court’s dance at the end makes it all worth it. ? I laughed my head off. My favorite thing you did was add the trim to those ugly doors. What an awesome idea. The whole room looks so incredible. Did your parents like it?
