So as some of you may know I live in Southern Utah were it is still 100 degrees. October is a bittersweet time for us Gublers because we LOVE our pumpin carving. See….
The down side is they are moldy mush in a matter of 4 days. So this is my solution.
JUNK-ins!
Here is how you begin
Get yourself a good assortment of glass jars. Different sizes, shapes, etc.
Get a piece of was paper and layer painters tape on it. Then draw your design on it. You can freehand your own or get some great ideas {here}. When you carve a pumpkin you are removing the lighter colored portion, when you are cutting it out you are saving the lighter colored portion to put on the glass. A bit reversed.
Now you paint. I used Rustoleum Real Orange spray paint becuase it has better coverage than the orange from Krylon. After you let your paint dry peel off the tape.
P.s. I think I am going to rename my blog “Glaze everything in sight”. Can you guess what happens next? Your right! My BPF (Best Painting Friend) came to visit. Ralph Lauren Faux Glaze in Black Silk.
And then you light them!
(I need to get a tall skinny candle for this buddy.) I was just too impatient.
They are super craptastic and I have about 10 other ones outside drying. I am going to line my walkway with them. Jealous much? Good, then go and make your own!Linking up to the left, to the left.
If you can name that song I will give you a virtual high five.Oh my gosh. I meant to the right. Did you know that I dont know my right and left? Seriously I dont.

Who’d a thunk it? That is such a great idea! I love how different it is…and how you still kind of get to mimic the pumpkin effect of different sizes and shapes with all of the different glass bottle shapes. Way to be crafty!
These are cool!
Adorable!!! Love it! =)
Those are rockin’!!! You better believe I will be featuring these at somedaycrafts.blogspot.com tomorrow! Boo-Yeah!
Beyonce, to the left, to the left, everything you own in a box to the left. Girl don’t mess with me and music. Ha ha. You might be able to mess with me and the spelling. Oh and I love the pumpkin idea.
You’re NOT irreplaceable!
Cute jugs you got going on there girl.
These are adorable. I can just imagine them lining a walkway…mine! Guess I need to get busy.
Great idea, very creative!
I will totally have do this. So cute!
I really like this!! I think this may be a craft I actually try. Thanks!
I had the kids make some a few years ago – squares on orange tissue paper and lots of pva glue to cover the jar in orange, then cut eyes and mouth out of black sticky back plastic, kinda negative to the real thing, but easy for them to make, and looks good
Looks fab! great idea 🙂
LOVE IT! I don’t live in Southern Utah and my pumpkins still get mushy…more like after a week or more though! I think I’d rather do this so I can have “pumpkins” through the whole month!! EXCITING!
Thanks for sharing. You rock!
